My Nan was 31 and my Pop was 21 when they married in 1926, they were married for almost 58 years when Nan passed away. It must have been quite scandalous in those days. Pop used to always say she chased him
My brothers and I were truly blessed to have them in our lives.

to any who have not used Aurifil ... try it!
They do have other weights than the 50, but that's what I use for most of my sewing.
As already said, it seems expensive, though the yardage difference does not make it so expensive.
I can buy it at a couple of my LQS, though when I found this company (thanks to the QB), it is a LOT less ... especially if you buy their specials or packs of several spools.

Forgot ... re GFGs ... just doing a few right now to get the hang of it!
Will make it into a tabletopper or a small wall hanging.
Not the best choice of fabric for the flowers, but was anxious to get at it, and then I didn't want to create and orphan in mid-stream!
Need some more fabric for the background GFGs
(yes, the size of my stash, and I still have to buy fabric! imagine that?)
I know what green I want ... and have a small piece but not enough, so am ISO now!

I'll give you a photo, once I have the green fabric.
Am hoping that I get it this week, so I can work on it while away next week.

I do believe in quilters ADD. We can't git past thinkin' about all o' the quilts we want ta make. Ya know the ones we tell ourselves "I can do that" & "...that won't take too long will it?"

Oh and another project at my house!!!!Actually Emily is going to help with it. I saved most of FIL's shirts**lots of Western style plaids. Tonight I've been cutting them into various sizes. I have 4 layouts that I kind of like--they measure around 60 x 72" depending on the layout.[ATTACH=CONFIG]379143[/ATTACH][ATTACH=CONFIG]379144[/ATTACH][ATTACH=CONFIG]379145[/ATTACH][ATTACH=CONFIG]379146[/ATTACH]Emily and I are going to work on the 4P for DH's sister for Christmas. She's looking forward to it. I want to finish total of 8, 1 for each child and grandchild; but not all of them before Christmas. I'm really tired of plaids tonight!!

One of the first quilts I made was a GFG but the hexagons were about 2 1/2". It was done by cutting fabric, batting, and backing into about a million hexagons; sewing 5 sides together then turning them right side out. They were quilted and then sewn together into a quilt. I had those things all over the house AND I did it all by hand!! I still have the quilt (if you can call it that) and when I look at the fabrics I used--denim, eyelet, seersucker, cotton, polyester--I'm amazed it's still in one piece. That was really the beginning of my quilting journey many years ago--like 1975? I also remember using electric scissors to do all the cutting. Not the most accurate way to cut--my hexagons are all different sizes and shapes. I think I can say I've learned a lot since then LOL.

Hey, that is neat JanRN to have your first quilt pieced by hand to remind you of then and now....we all need that journey to remind ourselves that we have come a long way since we started, and very journey begins with that first step or stitch.

I like your first quilt layout, OksewGlad. Many here go into second time around shops or thrift shops and buy the plaid shirts there...with a color theme of red or blue or green, etc. I donated a red plaid blouse to the LQS owner who was doing one, but she thought it was too nice to cut up....so I guess she did what she wanted with it.

Maybe I can get into the quilt room today; maybe. Will see what the day brings...it often goes a different way than what I plan, but then with mice and men...plans often go astray.
