Saga of without bad luck, we would have no luck at all. Thought the Van was going into shop to have the valve covers, gaskets, replaced but then the GMC 4x4 rusted through the brake lines, so that takes most of the budget monies for the month. It was good luck that it did it at the station and not the way into town.
So I had to drive the van into town to pick up dh; I have not driven much since April, and boy, was that ever hard to do. Thank goodness it was just 12 miles that I had to grasp the steering wheel so hard my hands ache today. I was super quick to get out of the driver's seat at the station and give it to DH.
Will see what today brings; may the Man above smile at all of us. Celebrate the day with a smile. The government has not figured out how to tax that ... yet.

If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck a'tall!
Gloom, despair, oh agony oh me!"
LOL That what I thought when I saw your post Sue!! We all have days like that don't we? I do anyway! I'm so sorry about the GMC! Huggs my DF.

Never ask if the day could get worse, because it does. More things wrong with those brakes, the total cost going up. Thank goodness the service owner is willing to work with us and our budget that has taken a major hit. We will pay him 'good faith' monies this morning and then when SS comes in, pay him all of that, settling the bill this month. Brings back memories of teaching days....from paycheck to paycheck.
Hope to get into the QR at some time...dh is talking about dressing out two ducks today...maybe he will or maybe he will not. He has claimed them all as pets....Longer living ducks would be his choice.
Have a great day...that silver lining is harder to find some days than others.

We have all fallen off the" monthly goal wagon". I was going to post my Sept goals et al and couldn't find my August ones--yikes.....
And I do like making goals so I'm reviewing my 2 months sewing
Okay, my July list is going to look alot like the above
So here goes
1. Put binding on TV stand runner
2. Finish historian's book.
3. Put together FCC quilt--yes I have a plan!
4. Sew Under Lincoln's Stars and maybe quilt it.
5. Sew a red mini for RSC14 challenge and think about previous month's colors for more mini's.
6. Finish the mini's I have WIP's.
1. Runner finished; want to take a photo so put it on the dining room table--now covered with clear plastic and the overflowing of newspapers and magazines. We read at the table....
2. Almost have the Historian's book finished. Quilt guild meets on Monday so I have a deadline....
3. Still looking for the FCC plan--well realistically have tried to "find" it; other things have gotten in the way...
4. Lincoln Stars still in the basket....
5. Yeah I posted the red mini earlier
6. Mini WIP's....Finished 3 and made 2 more for school hospital FR's. Made 2 more mini tops so that makes 7 minis to finish. And have one half sewn. I don't think I'm making any progress here on finishing the WIP's
7. Been cutting in my "I don't think I will use these scraps" again...very liberating
Time to go
Guess I will make my September goals later.....

We are leaving on a long RV trip Monday. Monday to Thursday we will be at Malibu Beach with our RV group. From there we go to Phoenix to visit grandkids. We will stay there a week, then we are going up to Utah to see Antelope Canyon (google it!). We may wander around Utah, AZ and see new parks for a week or so. We often have email, so will keep in touch!

I have 9 blocks put together... now to cut them up and resew them...I like the touch of flannel but I'm not liking the sewing of them...I should have used a walking foot or better yet I should have set up the Pfaff w/IDT..I think I'll do that tomorrow when I have to resew them...and finish the rest that need to be sewn....
Have a good weekend everyone...H.

QNS, I'm joining you in the troubles. We remodeled our kitchen about 12-14 years ago and replaced the fridge, stove, & dishwasher. Well, this week started having trouble with all 3! Dishwasher definitely needs replaced but hopefully MrJanRn can fix the fridge (ice maker sticks) and stove (needs new oven heating element). I do not want to replace all three at once.
OK, you have enough goals for all of us!! You are going to be one busy lady. I accomplished most of my goals for August: 3 Christmas gifts finished, all 50 Fab Star blocks completed but not QAYG yet. (I set modest goals LOL). For some reason in September I get the urge to clean & purge. Started in Bat Cave, gave away lots of books and fabric and scraps. Now to start on closet. I have to remind myself I'm never going to be a size 6 again so it's time to get rid of a lot of clothes. I also have one more Christmas project I want to do this month. Again, modest goals.
Jeanie, have a super trip and please send us pics so we can ooh & aah!
