Shadow Dancer,
You and I seem to have chosen the same colors.
Here's my Hole in the Barn Door
My black and white fabric is hand stamped using a hand made wooden block. The black dye is natural, but I do not know what plant was used to get the color. The method is used in Damascus, Syria to make gorgeous tablecloths. My fabric is from an old tablecloth that got too holey to use any more.

Got a book from the library today. Quilt in A Day by Eleanor Burns - Pioneer Sampler. It was published in 1993, has 12 blocks, but a lot of different ones than we have signed up for. Again some of these may have more than one name, but thought I would list them as I think some of us have doubled up on the same block.
#! - Golden Gate
#2 - Rocky Mountain Puzzle
#3 - Chisholm Trail (the one I chose.)
#4 - Louisiana
#5 - Cheyenne
#6 - Colorado
#7 - Illinois
#8 - Salt Lake City
#9 - Arizona
#10 - Montana
#11 - Missouri Star
#12 - Kentucky Chain
I do not know if Quilter's Cache has any of these, but I am sure you can find them somewhere on the web.
I think I am going to check to see if I can get a copy of the book online.

it gets better. not only do some blocks have more than one name, some names refer to more than one block. i pulled the block list from EQ and Block Base. 12 blocks? oh no no noooooooooo. 25! not counting the Kentucky Chain, which isn't in either database.
the Churn Dash Shadow Dancer picked adds a third version of that block, plus a fourth completely different block also called Churn Dash.
Marcia says the Kentucky Chain is also called the Framed X. When i looked up that name, i found a completely different block to Marcia's and, oh by the way, it has 7 different names in the Brackman encyclopedia alone.
this should be an interesting theme!!! :P
