no, i'm not left handed. just picked up the fabric and started the quilt yesterday. my 3 yr old granddaughter needs a quilt for her 'youth' bed. and i've thought and thought, and couldn't come up with anything i thought was 'neat'. nothing sparked my interest.
intended to do the mystery quilt, but kept doing other stuff. so sunday morning i decided, that's what i would do for her. so went shopping in my stash, and started cutting. by 7:30 that nite, i was just toooooo tired. so started making mistakes. Ya know?
I have enough material of each, so this morning, i think i will just redo the lst batch. i had already cut and sewed them together. will use them somewhere else in something else.
do we sew the next two batches of strips in clue 843, like we were SUPPOSE to sew the lst one?

If memory serves me correct, yes, you are correct on that clue.

Well, I did get my strips cut on Saturday but not sewn together. But I did pack them in my luggage so will try to do them while on family visit. Hopefully next weeks clue will use these pieces and I can also do it from afar.
I also went back and had to label my fabric for this one. I guess we were all just anxious to jump in and start. I love the looks of all the fabrics coming together.
I think my diagonal strips may be the mirror image also. I hope that is okay.

I only finished half of step 4 last night. My F fabric was unwashed and it's black/white. The color catcher was very dark so I'm glad I washed it. I have a A strip leftover from the other set. Hmm. The b/w is inexpensive fabric and was very crooked, but it's straightened out now. I am wrestling a 5.5 yd piece for these little strips.
I have a chart now, too, so I'm off to see how much damage I can do.
Another vote for the mystery of this one. I like my black w/red roses so much, I can hardly wait to see what you have in mind for them, Judy. Thank you for doing this.

ok, just so you know...yes I felt the earthquake but it is a 2.6 .....that makes light fixtures swing for less than a minute ....checked the things hanging on the wall all are straight........big trucks going by can rattle dishes in the cupboards, this did not.
Quake: Lat. 34.150 N ------- Lon. 118.354 W
Me: Lat. 34.176 N -------- Lon. 118.349 W

Ok, do I understand this right - you say your 45 degree angle is opposite from what my picture shows? If so, turn your cutting borard around and re-line your strip set. Did that work? If not, you can cut from the other way as long as you msew and cut your other stirp sets the same way. Or am I not understanding your question?
when i did the clue at post 843, my strips were angled the other way. is that going to matter? when i sewed the strips together, i off set each strip 2 inches shorter. was i suppose to sew it so the strips were set two inches longer? when i laid my material down on the 45 degree, my degree mark was slanted to the right, not the left. to fit my material. what did i do wrong. the lst time i have ever cut anything on the 45 degree. thx
sorry to be sooo dumb.

Oh, too too funny -- that would be a blast, wouldn't it?
No, probably not - I'd probably have people outside my house with guns and sticks, ready to beat me sensless.
also, look at quilt patterns all you want, I don't think you will find this one, I made it up.

Another thought, what if Judy said for everyone to sew their quilt together without anymore instructions. Wouldn't that be interesting to see how many different quilts there would be with all the cuttings being the same? This one sure has everyone guessing, I even tried to cheat and look at some of the other quilt patterns to see if I could figure it out. Nope there was nothing of the sort. Oh, was that cheating, I did not see that rule in the instructions sheet. Sorry. Back to quilting.

ALSO - just thought of this - if you are left handed, just cut from the right side of your cutting mat instead of the left.
