I always use the starch when sewing strips, in fact, starch your strips right faces together before sewing so they do not move on you as you sew.

Another important thing to remember is that silverfish love starch so after your quilt is completely finished, you should wash it to remove the starch so it does not end up as someones meal of the day.

Quiltncrazy,
Thank you for the compliment on my avatar picture. It isn't a doll quilt, but a lap size quilt, I made for my Mother. Iris is my very favorite flower & I had such fun making this one.

After several "start-overs" and using a special sticky marker that measures 1/4 inch from needle to edge of fabric, here's my completed block. (If I have to do more of these, I will go back to hand piecing!!!) :)

Hi Luvabargain, I'm a member of a local WOTM and we made lap quilts for shut-ins and this was the pattern we chose only it had three stripes and it made a neat pattern through out the quilt. If I knew how to post it, I would. I'll peck around until I find out how. mrspete[img]

my try at the BOM. not sure why my camera is acting up on me with the middle colors, but in real life the purple and blue stand out from one another. Can't wait for the 15th for another block. until then I will work on last years BOMs
