LOL, I think somehow this thread will go on, and on - as everyone is overlapping, and as those of us who finish keep coming back to cheer the rest on, others will be joining in.

Of course, if/when you post on them, we should still be getting the alerts, so if you have an issue or question...we'll pop in and try to help...Go for it!

I'll look again to see if I can find out what you mean by the "topic" section - I thought it would be on first page of this thread??

if you go to the top of this page in the left hand corner you will see
The Famous Jane Stickle Quilt, circa 1863
in small print. click on this and it will take you to the virtual section for all of the DJ threads.

I have mine out, but I have to finish some other things for this weekend, THEN, I will look in the box and see just where I am! I have not left the building, and I am not hidin, but I am snowed under, with projects, not the real stuff, although it is in the forecast for tonight! Ugh!

Uuugh, Shem - I hope you don't get that snow tonight - thankfully we haven't had any for a few weeks now, and I definitely don't want any more this year.

I am looking forward to some warmer, more comfortable weather now.

Esq: I didn't know how to hand quilt before I started on my Jane blocks. All I did was read online all the how-tos I could find and just started... Granted, mine have a certain "rustic" feel to the quilting, but I think it kind of fits the quilt.

I'll try to post some pics this weekend to show my progress.

blocks 62, tris 6, kites 1, pieces 1128, 12 quilted

I'd love to see your progress...I know, hand quilting, on a basic level, cannot be that hard...but it's those awesome quilters that make it all look so easy!! Getting down and doing it is a challenge!

So to the ladies that hand-quilted individual blocks as you went along...did you use the same color thread throughout? What colors did you choose, and why did you pick that?

sandpat 02-24-2011 03:39 PM

I used a varigated beige, but should have just
Saved the $ and used a regular hand quilting n
Beige thread. Remember that it won't show on
On the back since you don't have the back on yet.
I didn't change colors, just used the same throughout.
