Love all your December blocks, there so pretty!

Ronda how did you get your snow dots on the fabric, or I should say what did you mark it with?

whitepine 12-04-2011 07:55 AM

Surfergirl, I can't believe you are new to quilting, your blocks are so cute and well done. I think I like the outhouse the best. :D I too am wondering how to put them together and can't wait to see others ideas.

Hi Sulabug, I came to the sight to pull up the Dec. house and I did find the pictures. Yours is so cute! Like last month, I cannot find the December block. I am so sorry. How do I sign up to get the emails of the blocks. I would like to do this again next year too. Please just send me the site for the Dec. block. Thank you.
Jean

Just stumbled across this thread, as SulaBug's name caught my eye. I wasn't aware of this BOM, and it looks like it was so much fun! I will have to keep an eye out to sign up for the 2012 activity if there is one.

Deecee 12-04-2011 09:54 PM

Hi quiltingnonie - I'm sure Sulabug is thinking about 2012's BOM as we speak. I think there was a post regarding suggestions for themes. I will try to find it.:D

Deecee,
You can post your ideas right here on this thread, if you like. I haven't set up a thread just for theme idea's.
Thanks for asking.

Suggested so far: Calendar, dog, cat, butterflies.

How about - Block with animal names eg. bear's paw
Flowers
Block whose name starts with the first letter of that month
Christmas decorations/trees/presents

O.K. I have run out for now.

I spent an hour dotting with the end of a paint brush and acrylic paint...I add fabric medium to the paint...hope that helps?

 All your houses are sew neat. I am so far behind on the Houses and Stars. But I will get them done. (Ha,Ha). You all have sew much talent it is awesome. I am looking forward to next years BOM. I love this months block. I think that I might make this the main block for a quilt and make each block represent the holiday that falls in that month.

Hey SulaBug I now have a smile :D: like yours, thanks. BrendaK

I decided not to do this month's block because I did an extra one earlier in the year (the first picture) and now have twelve. I don't know how I would use 13. So, here are my twelve.

Jeanine 12-06-2011 01:23 PM

White Pine:
Oh, I love them. They look so well together that way. WOW

Thanks everyone. It has been so much fun this year seeing everyone's creativity. I've learned a lot seeing how other people tackle problems and different approaches to color. Can't wait till '12.

Hi Sulabug,
Suggestion for BOM theme. It may have been done before, but how about a BOM with a Christmas theme so we all have a Christmas quilt top by next Christmas? BTW, I have so enjoyed the house blocks even though I am a little behind. Thanks for that wonderful theme.

Deecee 12-07-2011 01:24 PM

Hi Irene. :)

Finally have all 12 done with a few dups...I saved the castle for last and glad I did...those tiny pieces...UGH...Now I just have to come up with a fabric that will bring them all together. I think I'll offset each block with the large Barn for the middle

Hobbycat,
Your blocks look amazing, all put together!! :D What a great job you have done!! I will be waiting patiently to see how you decide to put them together. Your idea of using the barn for the center is a good one. Thank you for sharing your picture wil all of us. Nice work.

Thank you Irene for enjoying this years BOM theme. i also like your idea of a Christmas BOM theme for next year. A few ideas have been stated & I am hoping to hear more before the choice is made. Ladies let me know what you think?
:D :D :D :D

Deecee 12-07-2011 10:44 PM

:D Seeing a Christmas theme was also amongst my suggestions, I think that now means three votes and in the lead.:D

Surfergirl 12-08-2011 03:37 AM

I like the idea of a Christmas theme.

jacquie 12-08-2011 04:15 PM

i would actually like to see a BOM working on the theme of that particular month... ie feb; valentines day, dec; christmas, oct; halloween, etc... then obviously other themes associating with their months like fathers day/mothers day etc...
what do you think??

jacquie 12-08-2011 04:18 PM

Hi Sulabug, I am still having trouble finding the house blocks but since I found the photos and comments, I knew it was a Gingerbread House. I went online and found a gingerbread house. It is by the FourTwinSisters. It is not the one yours. Sulabug, I do not know why I do not get emails about the houses any more. I did get your email and was able to print out the house for November. Thank you so much for that. I would like to do a quilt next year too but I need to be able to find the patterns.
