After talking to my niece, she is pretty sure her first Grand Child is a girl! (I can't believe my niece is about to be a grandmother!) She is the oldest grandchild of my Moms although Mom already has 3 great great grand children. This makes 4. My Mom is 85 with 8 children 26 grand children, 32 great grand children and now 4 great great grand children.
Ooops I went off on a tangent there! lol, I made my Mom a Family tree with everyone and I am the one who updates her tree. Good thing I made lots of room for lots of leaves! Judy will it be ok to use solid fabric, I picked 3 colors from the Purple family. A lavendar a fuschia and a dark purple, I will take picture when it comes out of laundry! I am using Flannel, Looking for a perfect backing fabric now! Mary |

Picked my fabrics up this morning. :) We're re-doing our living room in shades of blue and silver. For some reason, it's the coldest room in the house during the winter, so I thought a throw would be handy.
|
Moonrise -- love your fabrics. I'm partial to blue, but since this will be a charity quilt I thought I'd step outside my normal comfort zone. But your blues are tempting me back! I might have to make two.
|
I want to hop on the train and go for a ride. I am a new quilter and so eager to make things. I like the first 3 color combinations, don't care for the green. Looking forward to the ride and making new friends

Delphina. WELCOME. You will have fun!
Moonrise, I agree with Belfrybat that your fabrics are beautiful. Marytodliz that is a great idea to use flannel. Can't wait to see it when you finish. Belfrybat my family/keeping room is stormy blue with white wainscoting and I love it. I keep thinking I need to make a blue lap quilt for there but I haven't done so yet. After your comments and seeing Moonrise's fabrics I am thinking maybe I should make it now and use a different pattern for my QOV. I have medium gray fleece that would make a wonderful back... |
I think I started something! LOL! (usually it's trouble! :D he he)
Love your room, Just Jan, especially the doors and cabine.t! |
marytoddliz Never to late to join, as you know! Great idea, make 2, have one on hand LOL And your colors sound yummy, solids will work fine, just make sure there is enough contrast between, because at some point, everything will touch.
Tomara and Delphina Glad to have you along for our ride, can't wait to see your fabrics Oksew thank you so much, appreciate your endorsement! Moonrise once again you have picked absolutely fabulous fabrics, I love these colors together. Belfry two is always better than one, right? |
are these OK?

Judy, Here are the choices that I have made and need your opinion on which one would be best, if either one!

|
Alva I love the green's, my favorite is the second one
Moonrise Beautiful blues, I may have to make this in blue also! I have done a lot of Judy's mysteries more than once, I love them so much! Jan, Beautiful room! I love wainscoat it makes a room look so elegant. I hope everyone has a great day! Delphin beautiful Fabric! |
I'm here just can't post pics. Even my daughter can't get it to either. But I'm here
|
Delphina your choices are fine, will be pretty.
Alva love that print with the black, but wait until Saturday to see if you want to go with this for your dark or not. :o It just might be a bit big of a print. Mary pretty colors. And I just noticed your avatar! Ta dah! Mystery #2. if I remember. It is still my kitchen table topper. Kathryn welcome to the party! |
I had a hard time posting pics too. I have finally figured it out. I hope this will help you.
1: you need to resize your pic. make it web size. 2 Don't use post quick reply go to "Go Advanced" 3: Scroll down out of the typing window click on Manage Attachments 4: No you should see upload files from your computer 5: Click on Browse go to where your picture is and click on it then upload Hope this helps It is the only way I can post pic |
re posting pix - it you see "upload failed" it means the pixels weren't reduced to a max of 640 pixel on the longest side of the photo
|
I think they have blocked me at work. oops. I click on the magnet and it locks up and I have to reboot. yeah I think it's work.
|
but thank you for trying.
|
oh my it did work. but I don't have my fabric loaded will do thurs. I actually have a day off tomorrow
|
I would join your train ride. see you on Saturday
|
Thanks Judy. The fabric is actually a dark green but I will wait. Have company coming for the long weekend so it won't be until later in week before I can work on this. Patience, Karen, Patience! LOL
|
Welcome to all the new riders on the train. I love the pretty fabrics. It's always so much fun to see the same pattern worked up in different fabrics. Lots of different ones this time too. Where is Lynnie with her Chocolate Wine?
|
Love the new fabric choices! YAY! More joining the train. Just Jan, your room is very elegant. I love blue and white.
Yes, where is Lynnie? I hope she's not stuck in the snow! Oranges in the club car for anyone who needs some Vitamin C. :-) |
Jan -- lovely room. Yes, you definitely need to make two quilts so you'll have one to match your room.
Delphina -- welcome aboard. Love the middle fabric -- it's so feminine. I just put some dark chocolate truffles in the club car along with a nice Shiraz. I think chocolate and red wine go together so well. And I too wonder where Lynnie is with her chocolate wine. |
Mary and coopah - yes, I've noticed, Lynnie is missing, and Dotty isn't on the train either.

Here's another option this time using blue. My least favorite part of quilting is fabric selection. So any opinions gladly and graciously accepted. LOL
|
The picture came out with a lot of yellow in it. The bedspread is WHITE!!
|
Alva -- they look good to me, but I also have trouble picking out fabrics for a mystery quilt. But you know what? I always love how they end up even if the fabrics aren't my favourites to begin with.
|

I'm trying my initial choice with a stronger orange. Hopefully this will have more contrast with the yellow than my first choice. I'm also going to do one in blues. Although both of these will be charity quilts, it will be nice to work with my favourite colours as well as my "non-favourite".
Oops! Pics came out really large but trying to change them smaller didn't work. Sorry. |
Judy I sent Lynnie a pm to remind her, she is without a machine right now. :(: sew: She's going to follow and try to catch up when she gets a new machine. :D
|
alva I think you will be fine with these
Belfry I like your blues in the bottom picture ... but ... wondering if you want to wait until Saturday to decide on the top selection. |
Everybody's fabrics are so pretty!
I'm still trying to find ones that fit both my criteria - I like them together and I have enough of them if I decide to go bigger. My have to just do a single block and go shopping after I get another payment in. |
Revised combo
1 Attachment(s)
Judy, what do you think of this combo now? I realized one of my earlier choices was too short a remnant, so now this is the latest effort. I'm really looking forward to this mystery especially after reading all the positive feedback from your previous mysteries.
|
Liking that combo a lot, Carol! I think it's the ticket!

I finally pulled some fabrics, the light is a TOT white and cream paisley. The gray is a solid, when I resized the pic it made it look all wavy. The brights are fat quarters that coordinate with the medium print, I hope to use them for sashing and border. I'm ready for Saturday!

I did your mystery quilt about 100 years ago and enjoyed it so much...now is the time to do it again! here's my fabric selection...will they work together? Hope so..I really like these three together

oops! Light is in the middle!
|
Such wonderful fabrics.

[h=2]not sure what to use[/h]
help!! not sure which one to use? A, B or C ? still learning color value, Hoping to have a fun ride with you all. <fieldset class="postcontent" style="margin: 5px 0px; padding: 0px; border-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; word-wrap: break-word; line-height: 20px;"><legend style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: Verdana, Tahoma, Geneva, sans-serif;">http://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/misc/paperclip.png Attached Images</legend>http://www.quiltingboard.com/attachm...111_193213.jpg</fieldset>A) blue, red and white b) hunter green, gold, gold print C) peach, rose, and green paisley with those colors in it |
Carol these are perfect - plenty of contrast
dhanke love all those brights you will border the quilt with, and like your fabrics too. giggle - ok, if light is the middle fabric, you will be fine. Pretty grays. Tomara - either A or C will be fine. With the B, the medium and light are too close, not enough contrast Ok, everyone, I am shutting the puter down, going to plop by lazy self on the couch and read until tired. See you all tomorrow. I hear the wheels on the train going Sat ur day Sat ur day Sat ur day, as we move closer and closer to starting to sew. |
I just came across this and cant wait to hop along for the ride.. I just got done with the BH mystery En Provence and I am addicted to mystery quilts now..
