Oh my, Angelia, another beauty from your talented fingers! It's lovely.

lawsonmugs 05-08-2018 02:41 PM

Angelia. very pretty. reminds me of fall.

D.Henson 05-08-2018 03:02 PM

Angelia, very nice color choices. I love the green!

retiredteacher09 05-08-2018 05:55 PM

Denise: I love how the yellow, blue, and purple tie it together nicely.

Angelia: Pretty color combinations!

Conchalea 05-08-2018 07:38 PM

All the blocks look so different because of the fabric colors. I love every one of them! This block will turn out to be one of my favorites because each top will be unique. All that’s needed is to change fabric choices. I’ve really enjoyed my first mystery.

dd 05-09-2018 03:41 AM

I followed all the clues. Paid attention to all the pictures. But i still had HST blocks sewn together wrong. Spent time last night unsewing blocks. I will try again today.

Belfrybat 05-09-2018 05:07 AM

Wow! I love every single block and quilt that has been posted. This is a wonderful pattern. I hope to get a couple of blocks together today and will hopefully post my progress tomorrow. I had been keeping up so well until this last clue. Still have #18 to finish as well. Plus three others I'm working on. Yikes!

paintmejudy 05-09-2018 06:43 AM

Belfry - you are a quilter, nothing wrong with that. LOL I am in the same boat as you are, but I think of it as a choice of what to work on today!

Finished the first block I'm wondering if my light triangles are too light?

JustAbitCrazy 05-09-2018 08:46 AM

I think your light triangles for the star points are too light, but I love your fabrics and colors. It will be a very pretty quilt.

SusieQOH 05-09-2018 09:17 AM

Yeah, I agree. Thanks for the input, JustAbitCrazy Maybe I'll swap out the other ones. Or maybe not :)

petthefabric 05-09-2018 02:14 PM

I think there isn't enouth value contrast between the light triangle and the background.

I haven't made this, so I cound be totally off base. I think the center star looks more like a leMoyne star?

whitepine 05-09-2018 02:29 PM

D.Hanson. Your #18 scrappy looks great. That's one of my favorites as far as how the blocks went together.

Klaws, Glad things are coming together. Moving doesn't sound like much fun and I'm going to have to do it myself in a few years. Any words of wisdom for the process? :)

Angelia, Nice!! Very fallish looking. Makes me want to get busy.

dd, I haven't actually sewn any together wrong but I have pondered and pondered and looked at my cheat-sheet every time I make a block. Partly because I have my star pinwheels going in the opposite direction of the other pinwheels.

Susie, that is so beautiful. It looks like on the computer that the there isn't enough contrast between the light and the background but that may be my computer. BUT, I think you have switched your star points so that the white in the pinwheel doesn't line up with the white of the point. That would make them show up more. IMHO. Maybe you intended them that way, in which case I apologize, and applaud your creativity.

SusieQOH 05-09-2018 04:00 PM

Oh my gosh, whitepine, you're right! I royally screwed this up!!!!!!!!!!! I am really good at that though so I'm not really surprised.
This afternoon I took off all the really light triangles and will replace them. Now I'm wondering if that is a mistake too! Good thing I only made one finished block.
Thank you so much!!! :)
Oh and I'm not that creative haha

lawsonmugs 05-09-2018 04:02 PM

Susie I think it Is beautiful. Love your fabrics.

SusieQOH 05-09-2018 04:21 PM

Thanks, Mary. Not sure what I'm going to do. I love the one above it. The pinwheels are clearly defined.

I redid the block. Not sure if this is right or not but I like it. Any thoughts?

bneuen 05-10-2018 09:43 AM

Love the blue and brown. Beautiful!!

dd 05-10-2018 09:54 AM

Oh yes, whitepine my pinwheels are backwards too! I have to post from my phone because my computer is being looked at, but I can't figure out how to post a picture from my phone.

IceLeopard 05-10-2018 10:32 AM

Nice! I think your light points just didn't have enough contrast, even if they had been in the right place.

SusieQOH 05-10-2018 02:10 PM

I made some more blocks and finally realize that a secondary pinwheel design occurs. DUH :D

lawsonmugs 05-10-2018 05:04 PM

Susie this one is beautiful too. The tips do stand out more on this one. I love the batiks.

paintmejudy 05-10-2018 06:09 PM

Susie, this will work out fine, very good fix.

retiredteacher09 05-10-2018 06:34 PM

Susie: I like the colors!

SusieQOH 05-11-2018 05:07 AM

Thanks, everyone! I've done 5 and can see the formation of the secondary pinwheels. Judy, this is a great pattern!!!!!!
A side note- I have had a lot going on lately and it shows in my lack of focus! I hope I'm not developing ADD at this stage of my life lol :)

Got the top pieced! Probably will be finished off for our local pregnancy center. Thanks again for a great pattern Judy! (But it will be a while before I feel the urge to do many HSTs! You warned us it was a lot...and you were right!)

SusieQOH 05-11-2018 09:28 AM

Oh Chasezz, that's gorgeous!!!

frustratedquilter40 05-11-2018 10:14 AM

Chase's I love how yours turned out love the color. Congratulations on a beautiful finish.

frustratedquilter40 05-11-2018 12:36 PM

Darn auto correct Chasezzz . Sorry about that ...

SusieQ I like your fix. The blue points are striking. Chasezzz, your quilt is so pretty. I love the on-point look & secondary pinwheels this pattern forms. I can see me making this one again.

Macybaby 05-11-2018 01:49 PM

This is the first mystery I have done that I like all the variations people are posting. That says a lot about the design!

I've finally got back to working on mine. Found out on Monday that a elderly friend has been very sick and slowly recovering, so I hurried up and made a lap quilt for him. Took the label to work and had a bunch of people that know him sign it. He comes and visits us at work quite often.

I brought him the quilt this AM, so now I can get back to finishing up the mystery. I've got my borders planned out and am curious how it's all going to look.

This is my first block. I made such a mess of it. I'm so tired and my sewing shows it. Terrible seams. I'm so sorry Judy. Your pattern is beautiful I sure messed it up. I love my fabrics so I will try again in a few days. To much going on here now. :o

WMUTeach 05-11-2018 05:34 PM

Your fabrics Are beautiful. So rich. You are wise to set it aside and try again. It would be such a shame to not finish this beauty. (We have all had to do this, probably more than once. Tee-Hee-Hee!)

retiredteacher09 05-11-2018 06:56 PM

Susie: I chuckled about the ADD comment because I often wonder that about myself as I grow older.

Chasezzz: Lovely!

Mary: Very pretty block. I hope things calm down for you soon.

No sewing for me since Sunday. 5 days and 1 evening class as a substitute teacher and an overnight with 3 of my great nieces. I am exhausted! My niece told me I need to slow down. :) Of course, it was her 3 girls I stayed with overnight on Tuesday and got them off on Wednesday to school plus I picked her up when she returned her rental car last night. Blessed though.

paintmejudy 05-11-2018 08:26 PM

Karen - love your reds. Beautiful finish.

Mary - this is beautiful, love it.

dd 05-12-2018 03:43 AM

Is anyone doing anything with the HST that is left over after trimming the snowball block? I have made them all into HST & I'm thinking about using therm for a border, if there's enough. Any one else using them?

I couldn’t discard them & have also sewn them together. I’ve thought about using them in a variety of ways-border or part of a pieced backing but no decision yet. I had JUST enough red for 3 more blocks to make a 3 X 4 block quilt & I'm sewing those right now. My blocks aren’t put together yet but I’m anxious to see the completed project. I love this mystery!

IceLeopard 05-12-2018 04:39 AM

I pieced mine into pinwheels that I may use for the border.

SusieQOH 05-12-2018 05:49 AM

dd, I haven't tossed them yet but they look too small to do anything with. But I haven't ruled it out. I love the fabrics I used.
Retiredteacher- haha it's a scary thought!!! (ADD) :D
lawsonmugs- that's a gorgeous block!! Please keep going!

whitepine 05-12-2018 06:01 AM

Chasezzz, Love your reds & pinks. Almost looks eatable.
Lawsonmugs, Sometimes life just gets in the way and you have to go where it says. For awhile anyway.
dd, I have given up sewing that size. I have a whole bunch of those corners from other projects and there they sit. It's too hard to even iron them nowadays. But I love the idea of it.
