dhanke, I really like your color combinations. The dark brown against the lighter background is going to make the boxes pop. With mine, it's the stars that pop, so it's a very different look.

I'm looking forward to seeing more results with all the different fabric choices. This is a pattern I think I'll do again using very different fabric choices.

dhanke 05-06-2018 07:16 AM

Macybaby, I love your fabric and color choices, the stars sparkle against the dark background!

lawsonmugs 05-06-2018 07:23 AM

Oh these are turning out so pretty. I haven't been able to sew this weekend so I don't have anything to show yet. Maybe tomorrow.

pewa88 05-06-2018 07:23 AM

I love this quilt. I am behind but have some other projects to finish before I can work on mine. I love how it looks like an onpoint setting but isn't.

D.Henson 05-06-2018 08:19 AM

Macybaby- You picked a winner with the background! This will be an awesome quilt.
dhanke - Your colors are excellent together. Love the brightness.

To RJ & Whitepine-I’ve been riding to courthouses since I got my first Harley in spring of ‘07. I didn’t do a lot of long-distance traveling on her, a small sportster. This adventure has really taken me to some interesting places! Our group split into 3-4 smaller ones since 32 bikes in one group is hard to manage & keep together. Also, some like to ride faster & farther than others do.
I have to admit I didn’t cut all 108 HSTs before my trip, so I work on those interspersed with the new directions we got yesterday. I don’t have enough done to put it together yet, but the snowballed background pieces look great! If I’d get off the computer I might get some sewing done.

I have 04 Heritage softail..that I got new in 04---have almost 80,000 miles on it now!!. totally different ride for long distances---we are picky about who we ride with--no hotdogging--no tavern stops until off the bike at the end of the day---and 6 to 7 is a great group...bigger than that it can be difficult---and it takes longer to do everything--fuel up--eat--potty stops LOL LOL

RJ 05-06-2018 10:47 AM

Thanks Whitepine---I am counting the days till I can ride again as per surgeons orders---but sure seeing a lot of bikes out in this beautiful weather

dhanke and Chasezzz: Wonderful looking blocks!

I made one block also and have my clues in different stages. I may make 3 more so I can add borders and have a baby quilt.

Macybaby 05-06-2018 05:31 PM

Connie, your's looks really nice too! I love the print fabric and I like the way it's looking with different fabric instead of the three shades - another different look for the same pattern.

paintmejudy 05-06-2018 06:17 PM

retired very nice, looks good.

My Heritage is an 08 & has 68,400 miles now. I like a group of 3-5 for the reasons you stated. I ride with my Motor Maid sisters mainly. Sometimes their husbands join us & they're all good riders so far

Conchalea 05-06-2018 07:31 PM

I have 2 blocks finished & they look good with my fabric choices. Of course, I haven’t seen any blocks on this thread that DIDN’T look good! I think I may have enough red fabric to make more blocks so I’ll have a bigger quilt. I'll
see how that goes once I put together the rest of what I have cut out. Thanks, Judy, for a fun mystery train ride! This was my first but probably not my last.

Here are the 2 finished blocks I have so far. I love the frame & secondary pattern!

Roma Bauder 05-07-2018 07:30 AM

Wow Judy. nice block. I wish I had the time to do one. I promised myself to finish up some UFO's this summer. I am Working on them fast and furious . Feels good to see old things getting done.

paintmejudy 05-07-2018 07:32 AM

Roma, I am never caught up with works in progress! There is always something new that catches my eye and I will make a block or four and put aside. Always something in the to-do pile (actually there is a stack of small boxes) that is ready when I want to sew.:D Eventually it all gets finished sooner or later.

SusieQOH 05-07-2018 07:39 AM

I'm back from New York to celebrate my Mom's birthday. We had so much fun!!!!!!!
Now I get to work on the finish. I love this pattern, Judy!
Thanks. Gotta get to work now :)

paintmejudy 05-07-2018 07:47 AM

I love seeing all these blocks being posted from such a talented group!. All are different and oh so beautiful.

D.Henson 05-07-2018 07:50 AM

Retired & Conchalea - Great color combinations. I like both of these cool blocks.

Judy, Thank goodness you suggested I change my background for more contrast. I found this blue batik that's I think is working well.

whitepine - this is perfect! Love the way it is going to look, I can see it in my head. But I cannot remember what your original choice was.

Thanks, Mary. It is a little wall hanging (had 5 flowers) I made for Just Jan when she got out of the hospital after her surgery. It had a blue border - her favorite color. I think of her every time I see this. Wish I could put it on my wall in my sewing room.

retiredteacher09 05-07-2018 05:07 PM

Conchalea and whitepine: Such lovely blocks!

I am certainly on the slow train, but I’m happy to report I finished to top of my Mystery Train #18. Yea! I am loving all the #19 posts and now I hope to start my gray and yellow #19 soon. Judy, all your mysteries are fabulous. Thanks!!

Turned out very pretty Denise.

klaws 05-07-2018 06:27 PM

I know I haven't been active lately. It has been a hectic 4 months. I finally sold my mobile home! Things are falling into place. I even have an apartment waiting for me when I arrive in Ohio the end of the month. Once I get settled, I will catch up with mystery #18 and this one. It's going to take me forever to get things organized. I didn't realize how much stuff I have until I started packing and packing and packing. My first priority will be to set up my sewing machine and unpack some of my fabric that I can at least do something. The rest will eventually take care of itself.

Judy, I love this mystery! Everything that I've seen so far is awesome! So many pretty colors and such a different look with each one. I think this is one of my favorites. Thank you Judy!

SuziSew 05-08-2018 05:39 AM

Judy, I've been lurking in the background and wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your mysteries! You are generous sharing your time and talent! Thank you!

I do have one question. What is the finished size of the block? I'm in a swap and I think it would work great for that.

Thanks again for all you do!:o

lawsonmugs 05-08-2018 07:32 AM

Hi Karen glad to see ya back. Sounds like you been really busy. Isn't this mystery beautiful?

paintmejudy 05-08-2018 07:33 AM

Sue - it makes a 12-1/2" block that finishes in the quilt at 12"

BettyB 05-08-2018 09:11 AM

looking forward to this mystery even tho I haven't quilted my last 2 or 3, thanks Judy and I know I have jumped in late but somehow I missed the starting post.

It's never too late to start! Do you have the postings? - they are #s 79, 189 and 295 (no clue on the 28th) with the first posting on 4/7.
