Hello everyone............. I have been admiring everyone's work and the Dear Jane blocks........ I just love this quilt and for sometime I have wanted to do this quilt............. well I took the plunge and have ordered the book. Now I just have to sit and admire all your blocks till my book comes...... wish I would have sent for the book sooner so I could have done my blocks with all of you. Great work and I will come here for advice when I start the quilt......... Beautiful Work everyone.

Katybob, love your blocks (as always!) espcially that white with green stripe. The perfect block for that!!

Here is my RS-7. Don't look too closely! I ordered the Affairs of the Heart book (Monica's avatar) but am rethinking that after struggling through this block. Does anyone subscribe to Quilter's Newsletter? I like the 'Flower Power' series they have been running. Maybe that is more my speed. Still thinking about the next project . . .

OK, that is obviously NOT Flower Power. It is Hank and Lola napping after a long walk. I can't get the scan of Flower Power to upload. I'll try again next time.

Cindy, your RS-7 is MUCH better than mine! Although there's some improvement, my needleturn skills still suck, so I'm more inclined to start a Sylvia's Bridal Sampler than the Affairs of the Heart. It's a little more "Jane-like". I've learned to tolerate needleturn applique, but a Baltimore Album Quilt is definitely not in my future. By the way, I was having a senior moment and couldn't remember the name of the Baltimore quilt, so I googled hand applique quilts and couldn't believe how many wonderful photographs and tutorials I found.

Hello Ladies!
Very nice blocks to all!
I see that they are seeking projects for the term of the Dear Jane!
As already said it first Dear Jane, I must finish then Afair of the Hearts (super late), finish my Baltimore in progress, all my old projects... and on my list are the Dear Hanna (I have the soft), Sylvia Bridal Sampler, Nearly Insanne and so many more that I've lost count! Lol! : (
Should also learn many techniques that I do not know as Bargello, Storm at the Sea, Lonely Star, Hunter Star and thousands more!
I think to not reach me life for so many wishes! Hahaha! : Rolleyes:
Have a beautiful day!
A hug!

Which Baltimore quilt are you thinking about??
Cindy - block came out really nice :) as for the flower power [love the dogs!!] I have the newsletter & was also thinking about it - it resembles the style of Piece O'Cake designs and some of Sue Nickel's work, don't you think?? I have to tell you it is certainly no easier than Affairs of the Heart if you decide to needleturn! there are some halfsquare triangles and other piecing, but the flowers have some nasty inner corners for turning [my least favorite!]

An Inner V needleturn....What you need to do with those nasty things is make one sharp precise cut directly into the corner - I do it one thread out. Make your needleturn stitches closer together when you approach the corner "V" then take a stitch going down into your background exactly at the V and come back up somewhat visible a couple of threads beyond the edge of your applique fabric. Whip the thread around the applique and draw it gently up where you came through before. Next tack it down to your background with one more careful stitch and continue up the other side starting with stitches closer together. [I took the opp for a quick needleturn instruction - which I hope makes sense - to lure you into AOTH !!! I need some company when I go back to it LOL!!]
Monica

btw - I will more than likely start Sylvia at the same time I go back to AOTH [with my emphasis on finishing the latter]

OH... I now have a name for my DJ.... "Not Quite Jane!" as a result of two oooops - I realized that LS1 had the wrong base. Was still thinking about unsewing and putting the print in before I made the next booboo. Its not quite finished so no pics yet. I was doing the hand applique on TR13 and RS4 night before last. Yesterday morning [when I was supposed to be doing some housework] I PP'd the tops....using the opposite fabric combinations.... ahem....
Well, I decided rather than redo, I will make it fit!

Gus... that I am making is "Flowers for my garden" pattern by Lori Smith. I'm only missing 3 blocks, I accompany an old photo which is missing a block.
I also forgot to mention the "Florabunda" Erin Russek pattern, that I just did 5 blocks, I need much yet, will also photo.
A hug!

Gus, I'm not thinking about any particular Baltimore Album quilt -- there's no way I'm going to make one! Here's the history and some examples:

Oh, my goodness, Gladys! Those blocks are amazing! You are so talented!

Thank you very much, katybob!
And I apologize to you and Gus, by having intruded in your talk! I thought I asked to me by the Baltimore and why got photos of my work without end!
And thanks a lot for the link! They are amazing!
A big hug!

So you have spurred me on to remind Jane I love her. PLUS, don't laugh.... I've signed up for a Batik Jane BOM with a QS here in Texas, Fabric Fanitics. I just got my first blocks A1-A10. My biggest disappointment was they didn't tell me what fabric to use on which block. (I even called to ask them. LOL) I've been trying to decide for days.... In that time I decided I must sew AT LEAST one of my Classic Jane's for each batik I do. Here are my two. Classic- B6 (now you know how far behind I am) and my first batik block A1.

Sheri - you're funny! I have seen others make two at once, so maybe this will work. And if all your blocks look this good it will be worth the wait! :)

Gladys - your blocks are beautiful and you never intrude - all conversations welcome others :)
Have a Happy Mother's Day ladies .....Gladys - you had yours in the fall September or October I think?? But have a great 'Northern Hemisphere' Mother's Day. Having said that, we had a painter here from Mexico and he said it is always May 10 there....happy happy!

Gus
