Here we go - not much I could trim from the back of this one, apart from the 'bull's eye' in the middle.

Latrinka 05-04-2011 05:34 PM

wow, that's very pretty, love it!

sandpat 05-04-2011 05:41 PM

Love the purple and lime combo...its HOT!!

Nettie Phillips 05-04-2011 05:51 PM

That sure is pretty.

Butterflyspain 05-04-2011 10:56 PM

Yes I like the colours in this one too. really pretty

Lacelady 05-05-2011 12:58 AM

I was trying to avoid red, white and blue in the middle because the RAF have that on their planes and I didn't want to have that mental association going on every time I looked at it. Don't get me wrong, I am not against the RAF, I just didn't want it on my quilt.

Mousie 05-09-2011 11:49 AM

I love this block...really love it!
I know I say that a lot...and I mean it...I guess that's way it's called Affairs of the Heart...I am having affairs of the blocks!

Lacelady 05-10-2011 12:33 AM

Well said Mousie, I have been doing that since the middle of January.

lynnie k 05-15-2011 12:19 PM

Ok lacylady here we go again with these scrolls and yours are just beautiful how large are your bloocks mine are 7" and my scrolls are small and not to easy to turn under there doesn't seem to be enough fabric to turn under if I just give it a 1/4 "then if I leave to much I have to much and it bunches up when turned and then there is not enough room to turn under when I get to the other side. What is the secret? I need some input

Butterflyspain 05-15-2011 12:22 PM

I can understand why your scrolls are difficult on the 7" size they are teeny. I know Lesley did a 10" block size and so did I. Have you thought about doing reverse applique, might it be easier that way, just a thought.

I baste mine round the paper shape first, that helps me.

Mousie 05-15-2011 01:51 PM

I'm doing ten inch blocks, but wondered if tiny "gathering" stitches in some parts would help "suck the fabric/seam allowance under?"
Does that make any sense,...or would it be just as easy to use the fabric glue?

Mousie, I use the gathering idea on the circles works like a dream, not tried it on the scrolls. I think its worth a try. Tell me how it goes please

sandpat 05-15-2011 04:45 PM

Lynnie..I'm doing the 7"ers. I haven't found an "easy" way to do the scrolls. I think we just have to go very slowly and just barely have enough to turn under. Too much seam allowance causes me more of an issue than too little I think.

ann clare 06-09-2011 02:03 PM

Great colors. Perfect stitching.

sandpat 07-19-2011 06:26 PM

Oh geesh...I'm going to do this block next and only 1 has been posted so far??? Has anyone else done them but not posted yet?? I like to see your fabric choices. :)

Deecee 07-19-2011 10:22 PM

Looks as though Lesley and yourself will be setting the benchmark for this block Patti.

We will all be watching with interest :-D

Butterflyspain 07-19-2011 10:51 PM

Not this one Patti, but I am sure you will make a great choice, you have so far, go for it

OK, here is my block 3. I chose not to go with the bull's eye and I can now see that I messed up the embroidery..I should go all the way down to the circle...oh well...maybe I'll fix that and maybe I won't...LOL!

Lovely Patti, love the colours and I canīt see anything wrong with it so there.

d.rickman 08-17-2011 10:44 AM

I love the colors you have chosen for your quilt. It is going to be beautiful, I don't see what is wrong with your block either

ann clare 08-17-2011 11:34 AM

Patti your block is beautiful.

Deecee 08-17-2011 12:55 PM

Patti I like the crisp contrast of the white on your block and prefer your fussy cut centre also. Embroidery looks great as is.

Mousie 08-17-2011 05:20 PM

Yummy, Patty, all I see is beautiful!
You weren't even kidding about circles!
That is about the most perfect one I think a human could do!
I'd love for mine to come out like that, and I love, love, love the white hearts, and lol, if you don't mind my saying so: has anyone else noticed that the corners of this block, resemble stalks of corn?
Wouldn't it be funny if they were done in yellow and green?
I would...i might...lol...just amuses me ;-)

luvmortherest 08-17-2011 09:42 PM

all the blocks are beautiful

sandpat 08-18-2011 06:07 AM

Thank you all!

Mousie...that is funny about the corn. I got that in my head too, so look at block #4...the bud of my flowers on that one is yellow...I was sewing it last night and thinking, yummm, corn! Of course, I didn't do the leaves in green..but still...YOU could! LOL!

Mousie 08-19-2011 11:12 AM

your right, patty...#4 looks even more like corn!

candi 08-20-2011 08:41 AM

AC and Pat, your blocks are divine.

Pat, I love your embroidery and circle.
