Well, I never attempted/finished July's star - so I thought I'd do this one early. Especially considering it was so 'easy'. It was a much needed relief, and it's still adorable, I think.
Not sure now about my choice of black in this star. It looks a little modern for all my florals. Plus the red is more than I was hoping to use, as with my other blocks (see second pic) I only use little bits of red. Oh well - it was quick. Took only about an hour. Lovely blocks. I won't be working on mine for a couple weeks but I look forward to seeing what everyone does!

:-( How do I get to do tthe blocks at this late date?
My grandson wants a fall quilt to take back to collage. I think this would be wonderful in fall colors. |

I was so excited this morning to get the instructions for the August BOM! I thought maybe I had better tweak it a bit so I could use more of my colors and make it compatible with my other blocks. Whacked and stitched and got all put together and what to my wondering eyes should appear?

I think the block is very striking. I think it looks nice with the other blocks.

It may not be Leah's star, but you have made a very beautiful blocks, nice use of fabrics.

Another August star. Nice to have an easy one this month so I think I'll take this opportunity to go back and fix my February one, which I wasn't happy with. One reason I really like paper piecing is that my stars end up the size they're supposed to be. Even the August star, with so few seams, came out small. I try to do scant seams but...........?? I'm going to have a problem when I put them together. Can't cut the others smaller because I'll lose their points.

It's a very pretty star, Whitepine. If it's just a tiny bit small, you can always block it using some starch. I notice when I press mine using starch after finishing them, they usually end up the right size.

The stars on the white background and the floral sections are a shiny silver color. I can't photograph it well enough to really show that. Thank you for a relatively simple block this month. I have had too many "gray moments" this month - my house block is not even started yet.
