Patrice, just a comment and a question, I use Firefox and love it! However, I seem to always have a problem with the paper pieced patterns from this site printing correctly using FF, I always have to adjust all the templates and by different numbers, and it makes me nervous, lol. Why in the world would having the 100% scale not print correctly? Are there settings that I need to fix?
Thanks for taking the time to help us here. |
Yep, IE worked beautifully for me right away, wish I had used it for my church block, maybe I should redo that one...decisions, decisions...

since the patterns may be downloaded for personal use exclusively by the person who downloads them, my guess is that cutting them apart to use for applique templates would constitute reasonable personal use. |
thank you pkward

After finally getting them printed out, I had an idea which I wish I had earlier this morning. The templates are gifs which means they will open in a photo program (like Photoshop). One option would be to open the gif and by using copy and paste, turn these into smaller units. That means you may have 6 files but you won't have to worry about getting them to all fit on 1 page. ******************** WOO-HOO!!!!! Just found out that I have a SNOWDAY tomorrow!!!!!!   So after I help dig out I will get started working on my farmhouse. I think I will browse through my fabrics tonight so I will be ready to go!!! Hey, if things go as I think they will, we might just get TWO snowdays out of this blizzard!!! The principal told some of our secondary students today that with the bitter cold that is to follow the storm we might not have school on Friday either! Keepin' my fingers and toes crossed!!!  A long weekend will give me more time to sew and work on my teacher homework! :D I might actually get to finish one of my UFOs, too!! |
Mine printed fine also, but I did have a problem with the church. Violet

You're welcome! Glad it worked for you!

I used the Paint program in accessories and just copy and pasted from the original(saved to my desktop) to make the proper sizes. I only had to copy pattern B...copied out the top stair section and the bottom stair section and also the test square into a new paint page....saved everything then printed with margins set for 0.25 on all sides. MACs should have a similar program.
|
I had my dh try to print temp. B from his Mac. His was even smaller than mine, not even 3/4 "

I am almost finished sewing this block and have some suggestions....... the sequence of sewing on the "front walk section" might be easier if you sew the "front walk" first then add the grass on either end.
Also on the "porch roof section" sew the "porch roof" first then add the sky to either end. Saves some fabric and ripping out as the angle creates a problem. Just a suggestion.. Violet |

i use firefox also and had trouble with the church block printing. had to use internet explorer to get it right. however, with this farmhouse i use firefox and it seems to have printed just fine with the exception of the margins. just turned to landscape and printed again. now have all pieces appearing to be ok. we shall see when i try to sew it. appears that different browsers and printers react differently with quilter's cache templates. oh, well. just one more of life's little challenges. |

These patterns should be done as PDFs, maybe there wouldn't be so many problems with them.
I use CutePDF to convert my own patterns to PDF. It is a free program that looks to your PC like a printer and you just print to that printer. It then comes up with a box to save the file as... Give it a name, and it creates a PDF out of it. |
I'M DOING THE HAPPY DANCE!!!
After a month of headache and disappointment, I can now print out the blocks to the right size. Do you know why.......... Someone, can't remember who said try printing it out with IE. I don't use IE (hate the program--not sure why), I use Firefox (lots of nifty add-ons). It never occurred to me to use IE. Whoever made the suggestion, THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! |

Now.........let my peanut brain start to figure this one out!! Let's see........because my "village" will be in the winter season my farmhouse will have snow on the roof and ground. The tree will be bare except for a bright red cardinal sitting among its branches! Perhaps I'll have to include a snowman in the yard. Oh, oh, oh, I'll have to put up some Christmas decorations on the house!!!!! This is going to be another fun one!!!! Thanks so much letsquilt!!!!! It will be a nice addition to my "village" of Beaver Valley! ;) |

I bet it would be easy and fun to try. :-D |
I'm determined to use only fabrice that I already have for this project.
|
I'm not sure I will do this one, as the pieces are so tiny, I can't see to get them on correctly. I wasted so much on the last one, that I don't have any to waste this time.
But I will enjoy looking at the ones the others are going to be doing. |
