When I printed the patterns from home, only one page printed correctly. Then I printed from work and they all printed correctly. Weird! Hope to be working on this soon, after I get my blocks done for the Row Robin I'm in. I love this site, it has really enhanced my life and given me so much motivation to actually do what I love!

This link at quilter's cache is the FAQs page and gives many suggestions on how to print the templates the correct size everytime. I hope this helps everyone:

All seems to be going well with my Farmhouse. I am using some of the fancy stitches on my sewing machine to make "shingles." Don't overlook the decorative stitches in your machine to create embellishments.

I am having so much fun with this block.

I can't wait to see that! I got a new to me machine with lots of decorative stitches and have no idea where to use them.

This isn't the best photo, but it may give some idea of what can be done with decorative stitches.

susiequilt 02-03-2011 02:45 PM

Way cute! I love the idea of personalizing each house block!
I've almost got my fabric together and hope to get started soon!

ditto - makes me wish I had some fancy stitches on my machine.

helen31406 02-03-2011 09:30 PM

Thanks for the positive comments! I'll be interested in seeing what it looks like when it's finished also. I don't have a plan in mind as I work. I just do what strikes my fancy. If it doesn't look right, there's always my faithful seam ripper.

MISHNJIM 02-06-2011 06:25 PM

I agree...Very cute to add the decorative stitches.

LoriH 02-07-2011 05:04 AM

This has been a slow block to complete. I work a little while on it, then get frustrated and quit for a few days. I only have a few more sections to go. So hopefully soon I'll have a picture.

Helen thanks for reminder about our machines having more then straight stitchs...yours is turning out adorable. I so hope I feel better this weekend to play catch up.

helen31406 02-10-2011 05:36 AM

Isn't it awful when you want to sew and your body just doesn't cooperate!!! You'll be feeling better soon and ready to stomp on that pedal! This is a good time to thumb through those quilt mags and cruise the internet sewing sites. Try ajpadilla.com for some inspiration.

GrannyLady 02-10-2011 05:14 PM

I have decided to try this BOM also. Have never done one before, but it sounds like fun.

Welcome Barb! Glad you joined us. I am new but I have had a barrel of fun and I am learning from all the "real" quilters too. :-)

Ok here is the farm house. I don't know if I like the material I used for the front walk. Opinions please. It was more work doing this one. But I got it done. YA! Ready to start next block tomorrow. Then I be caught up! lol

My favorite walks are along the leaf covered sidewalks and paths!

Love your fabrics choices. It looks real good to me.

helen31406 03-05-2011 10:42 AM

I waited impatiently for the farmhouse pattern. When the first of the month arrived, my hubby had already started renovating my sewing room.

I am now a displaced sewer. My machine and stash are in the dining room, but the printer is inaccessible. I may ask a friend to print tout the pattern for me before I go into BOM withdrawal.

I am not complaining. My sewing area will be wonderful when finished (in this lifetime, I hope.)

I am enjoying looking at everyone's beautiful blocks. You go girls!!! I'll catch up when I can.
