Hi, I see my posse is doin' okay...My new computer should be up and running in a few more days...I still have some accounts that need to be canceled.

Jeanie, could you list the brave souls? Or would it be too much trouble?

Hi everyone; looks like quite a trail ride forming up...lots of "riders" on this roundup. Hope Honchey gets her computer going soon to lead us onward. I am getting excited. BIL is putting more memory into my computer on the 24th of this month and in March I will be going into a new computer that DD and DS and BIL is figuring out for me. I just go along with them & my checkbook. Could be a few bumps in the road going toward that goal.

I broke down and made my Grandmothers cinnamon rolls yesterday and two loaves of bread. May have to post her old way, as the ones on the internet are different from hers. Not good for diets or diabetic persons. My dh is diabetic, but the cinnamon helps to reduce his blood sugars.

Yes, I have collected quite a stash of pieces for this "pony ride". Still checking into the photos to possibly copy for the quilt. It will be made for our grandson. One and only grandchild that we have. May have to take a photo of it later to post.

Back to finishing the Christmas quilts for couple of dh great nephews. And moving forward on the 6 wall hangings "Gone fishing" memory panels honoring dh Father for relatives. And the Hawkeye table runners. And deciding the "how" of finishing off the FWQ now on visual board...handquilting or machine in rows or all together or just to tie it. May just put it on my Grace quilting frame and tie it after the Holidays.

Looking forward to seeing all the new blocks from everyone on this trail ride. Forward, Ho!!!

Looks like lots is happening for you QNinaSue ... updates and new computer!! yeehaw! And talk about being a busy lady with all your To Do List! One lucky DGS to be honoured with your PC quilt! It'll be fun for you to remember your pony past as you create for him .... and perhaps stir up his interest in ponies too?

clip-clop-clip-clop!

Did you hear back from Patrice, Honchey, about putting an announcement in the Main section???

QuiltE 12-12-2011 11:57 AM

I think this would be the thread that you were inquiring about?
http://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f1...b-t170908.html

Also, what about??
OKSewGlad -- earlier in this thread I took it that she was "in"
SheilaH -- I don't think she's shown up in this thread, though was saddling up a little while ago
LindaR -- mentioned she has to get the book. Not sure if that meant she was "in" or checking it out?

oksewglad said on post #36 "ok, maybe", so I did not include her. Don't know about a SheilaH, and LindaR did not commit for sure, just asked where to get the book. I sure hope these gals want to come "play" with us! LOL

QuiltE 12-12-2011 12:42 PM

Gotchya! ... I think SheilaH's commitment was somewhere else, than in a PC thread. I'll get on my Lil Pony and ride on out to check on SheilaH and OKSewGlad, as I'm pretty sure both are with us.

Yes, LindaR, really didn't say yes .... so LindaR, please come on back and tell us so! :)

I was sure I wasn't going totally nuts, so went back to the earlier thread that Laurie's designer had started. That's the one we were Pony Club Kibbitzing on before the Honchey's "official" December announcement!

As for OKSG .... tough one ..... we'll nab her yet! :)
(I've offered a bribe!)

QuiltingNinaSue 12-12-2011 02:12 PM

I feel like we are all gathering at the St Louis Arch ready to ride West; guess I had better get my chuckwagon loaded up and ready to roll. Hope there are enough sharp shooters in the group that hunt to supply the meat. Give me a line and a pole and I will catch a few fish. Have plenty of sweet potatoes on hand. lol!!!

Who had the donkey material?? I want to trade or buy a fat quarter; that is the Missouri State emblem and they take the big Jacka## seriously here...at the Show-me state. Lilke the Texans do with their Beer-in-the-Rear-chicken and Buffalo Chip Cookies.

Not a bad sized group at all; considering we have not started yet...offically. Sounds like fun to me.

Hi everyone, gee what a fun chat to read, just as well I watched a lot of John Wayne westerns when I was a kid;)
I have 2 ufo's left now so it's looking good for a January finish on them. The wip's are long term projects, but I am not counting the 10 quilts I want to make and have purchased the fabric for. I know quilters have a problem but the medical profession hasn't come up with a cure for it yet:D
Hope my photo works, this is the fabric I am using for my PC quilt. I am using a cream background and will add in other fabrics from my stash. I have 40 fq's, hope it is enough, will choose one fabric and purchase more for the sashing and borders before it becomes unavailable.
Only 3 weeks to go (give or take a few days),
I have included a photo of my guard dog who "guards" me while I sit and sew:rolleyes:

QuiltE 12-12-2011 02:45 PM

Oh Mirabelle ... your fabrics look wonderfully coordinated. Love the mix of the softness of the prints with the stars and stripes!

40 FQs .... there's only 90 blocks to do! so I would think you have more than enough!!!

Can't wait! Can't wait!!!
(though I can wait on that first block!)

Bet JanRN never thought her donkey material would be in such high demand!
Them there mules are adorable!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Evie 12-12-2011 03:13 PM

This is going to be fun! I hope . . . .

oksewglad 12-12-2011 08:29 PM

Love your fabrics mirabelle! 90 blocks, right, QE? Wonder if I have enough diversity in what I want to use, if I tag along.

QuiltE 12-12-2011 09:04 PM

Oh you know you have!
And you know you want to do it!!
And ... And ... And ............. :) :) :) :)

Where's the rest of the Frito Banditos to help me rope and tie this toughie??????????????

Come on oksewglad, you'll be so sorry when you see our beautiful blocks and you are left out! Just think only 90 blocks rather than 111, and they are even a bigger size! We can do more fussy cutting! (I love that phrase-- LOL)

QuiltE 12-12-2011 09:46 PM

OKSewGlad ... remember, you'll be OK, Sew Glad to do the PC with the whole darned gang!

JanieW 12-13-2011 07:27 AM

I just found out that I will be called in to grandma duty at the end of February for a couple of weeks so I decided to do a couple of blocks so I wouldn't get behind. I am determined to use as much stash/scraps as possible. I chose to paper piece "cake stand". I found some fabrics that I liked together, checked to see that I had enough because they are scraps, then proceeded to sew. Got to the very last trim before putting on the bottom right triangle, not realizing the last piece of that fabric that was just barely big enough was underneath when I trimmed, and you guessed it, I sliced it in half. Ack. So now I will improvise and have my own , unique "cake stand" sigh.

QuiltE,
my preemie quilts are 14"x24" for the singletons and the twins are 24"x34". I only have several thousand to go. They go together quickly, the longest part is hand sewing the binding.

Mirabelle,
Love your fabrics. They will go together so nicely.

Janie

QuiltingNinaSue 12-13-2011 08:02 AM

Mirabelle, I love your little "guard dog" {{[hugs to your dog]}} and your fabric for the pony quilt. Love the colors there. What will be your neutral background?

Sounds like more may be joining us on the trail; wonderful news!!

mirabelle 12-14-2011 12:31 AM

Hi everyone, I tried to photograph my background fabric but the flash only made it a blob of white. Only a couple of weeks before we start scanning in our blocks for posting and then all will be revealed:thumbup: I just have the final border to attach to ufo # 2 and hopefully I can get it quilted on the weekend. Wow only one to go then and I will feel all caught up (at least for a few days anyway)

dublb 12-14-2011 09:07 AM

I've ordered the book. Boy do I hope I get it in time. I've ordered 1 set of fat quarters from Keepsake quilting. I hope that I can match the rest from my stash. I'm really afraid that I won't get the book in time. I am planning on going to a retreat in March so if I get behind I can catch then. I'm really looking forward to this.

Honchey 12-15-2011 01:18 PM

Hi Everyone, I"m Baaaaaaaaaack!!!!!! Hopefully all my cp problems are done with. I cut out my templates for the handpiecing of the first block.
So glad to see so many of our friends returning for another round.
I see QuiltE has been taking care of the "campfire". Good Job!!!.
I don't remember if I mentioned that Laurie has done some follow up geneology on the kids in the book and has given me permission to post it here. Every week the follow up will be for a different child. Very nice of her!!!
19 days to go before we hit the trail. Honchey

Hi JeanieG, There's no way to do something like that. The only way to keep the post current is too respond to it...That will bump it up. It really would be nice to have more members doing it with us.

oksewglad 12-15-2011 02:37 PM

Will there be rotary cutting threads as in the FWS?
OBTW--DH calls me "ornery" sometimes. I'm just plain "onrey"! LOL

Blue Bell 12-15-2011 02:49 PM

Mirabelle,
Love your fabrics. I recognize some of them. I have a few. It is going to make a spectacular quilt.

The rotary cutting instructions are included in the CD that comes with the book. There is a six (6) page document with all the rotary cutting instructions on it.

I'm one of the Latecomers, following in their success, and now have 74 blocks completed with 37 to go. So far, I haven't had any problems with the pattern info. It's actually gone much smoother, than many simpler patterns have gone.

So yes, I may have to eat my words yet for the FWS ..... and perhaps bow to your predictions during the FWSPC ........ though I have no red flags popping up to make me cautious of starting the FWSPC in January with the group.

Actually quite frankly, I am enthused and excited and even energized to be part of the group. This time I'm thrilled to be in from the start!! So please, kindly step aside and not rain on the parade ... or perhaps better said, please don't rain on the "trail ride"!!!!

Cheers to you! You said what I was thinking much more tactfully.
