A great start, Carrie. Our quilts will really look different. Tha's what's so wonderful about quilting. Same pattern, same fabric line, and oh so different. Have you thought about borders for yours at all? Debate is still out for me.
|
Gladie...I haven't thought about the borders yet...maybe the light blue/green color I used in my 1st block...that is the color I am thinking about painting the walls in my living room. I don't know though...that might be too light. I'll have to wait until I have a few more blocks done.
|
Carriem - Lookin' good!
|
Hip Hip Hooray DublB ... for your debut in PP land ... looks pretty darned nice!
Termi ... Nothing bland there at all! That Lil Cowboy is pretty darned cute. And the Broken ♥ is far from bland ... and a great blend with the cowboy. CarrieM ... looks like you're off and running with PPing with the start of a pretty nice looking block! |
I got it,,,, I got it, thank you so much for making that beautiful red and white spotty blocks it really showed up the broken heart.
So happy to see some new "faces" on you pony ride. keep up the great work |
Thanks Ya'll! The dots on the very first triangle lined up so perfectly that I worked to make the rest line up also. I discovered that they made the hearts show up when I was through.:) I wish that I had planned it that well but I'm not that good. Again thanks for the complements!

Isn't it a nice feeling, to see the light? I'm really liking that turquoise again. What a neat fabric the light one is in the Broken Heart! It will work nicely with several different colours/fabrics. |

Every blockk shown so far are so beautiful. We are all doing the same blocks and it is so interisting how different they can look dependind of the colors and fabrics we choose for them. For all ohhhs and ahhhhs. Love them all.
As someone said before, better late than never, so here are my blocks for week six: |
Art - Love those purple hearts! The pink ones are lovely too! Such happy children! Great Blocks!
|
ArtEC ... your Broken ♥ is classic ... and then love the contrast with the playfulness of the children.
|
Love both your blocks. The purple is very dramatic, such great contrast. And those little kids are too cute!
|
ArteEmCasa--More oohs and aahs from here! Delightful.

CarrieM, your chrysanthemums are darling in your Boys Playmate block! So very Fall. I love how you used color in your DP9. Any boy would love that quilt!
|
Lovely Boy's playmate, Carrie with nice contrast.
Sweet simple baby quilt, too. In the midst of getting mini quilt workshop ready for my guild for tomorrow. Supposed to have 4 " of snow tonight, but be done by morning. Ah winter so unpredictable. |
OK, wow 4" of snow. I hope that you can still go to the guild meeting.:)
|
DublB ... she'll just get her big ol' Case out and it'll be no problem! :)
OKSGlad ... you'll have to give us the mini-quilt workshop, here online! CarrieM ... cute and cuddly quilt for the cute and cuddly babe! ArteEC .. and we love having you here with us! |

OKSGlad ... you'll have to give us the mini-quilt workshop, here online! CarrieM ... cute and cuddly quilt for the cute and cuddly babe! ArteEC .. and we love having you here with us! We score cows on Friday, too. Now let's see if anyone else besides you and me know what that means!! If not will enlighten you all later. Must get back to bill paying--milks check came and wolves are yapping at the door!!! |
*giggle* Yeppir ... like true farm-folk, just "plough" your way thru the snow with your vehicle. Four inches isn't really all that bad ... and I just drive thru it too!
OKSGlad ... I think we should put out a challenge to these folks!! OK All The Rest of Ye?? ... let's see how smart y'all are ... translate OKSGlad's .... "We score cows on Friday" ....... Figure that one out and the winner will get ............ I'll come up with an appropriately related prize!!!! :) We'll let you have til then .... unlesss you're quick out of the starter gates and get it all figured out! |
You can find most anything with Google .....giggles
[h=3]Body Condition Scoring Beef Cows - Home - Virginia Cooperative ...[/h] pubs.ext.vt.edu/400/400-795/400-795.html May 1, 2009 – Overview. Body condition scoring (BCS) is a useful management tool for distinguishing differences in nutritional needs of beef cows in the herd. |
Oh my goodness, talk about culture clash. Hmm if we get snow the next day it melts, then freezes, & you gotta have a 4x4 to drive on the ice. The whole town shuts down.:) It happens so seldom that we are usually shocked. What's so funny is we've had 3 such snows this year! I think the most in 1 yr, for the last decade. (Last winter we got no sleet, rain or snow all winter, then no rain till the next Oct.
We score cows on Friday????????????? I've got no clue!:confused: |
Jeanie, sound right to me. We had an auction on Friday's so if a cow "scored" low for too many Fridays, she went to market! We had beef cows so part of her score was if she calved when she should have and the calf thrived.
|
Thanks all for the nice comments on my block and baby quilt. I have a retreat the 2nd weekend in March and my friend Crystal and I should be able to get lots of our PC blocks caught up...at least that is our goal! Not sure if I will be able to get any more done before then...
Carrie |
We got about 1.5" snow last night but it was already melting when I got up this morning (6)...it is almost 40 degrees at 8am! I too would just drive over 4" of snow...living in Iowa if you had to clear snow all the time you wouldn't want to go anywhere. I am thankful for the "light snow" winter we have had since the last several years we have had LOTS and LOTS of snow!!
Carrie |
"We score cows on Friday" ....... an assessment is make all Friday to know the cows body conditions of fat...is it? |
Carriem: cuddly quilt. I love the colors. Here we don't find flannel fabric so beautiful.
|
And to think that OKSGlad hasn't been back this way!
Welllllllllllllll ... your googling has given you correct but not correct info! Yes, Body Condition is an important tool/technique used by dairy (and beef) farmers in assessing their cattle. It's kind of comparable to BMI for humans. .............butttttttttttt.............. that's not the meaning of OKSGlad's comment about Friday!!! Soooooo Ladies .... If at first you don't succeed, try try again ... and then try again some more! :) OKSGlad .... Good Luck tonight at Guild ... and on Friday for u-know-what!!! :) |
I know you are all over at the new photo thread checking out new lovelies, but just to let you know went to town and back --only a couple of inches not the predicted four. Warm enough day today and most of it's gone replaced by "Mud, glorious, mud!" NOT.
I had a fun day with 8 other quilters showing them how to sew a mini quilt! Just a delight to be with these ladies. Good Google sleuthing Jeanie and ArteEm, but as QE says it has another meeting in dairy world. |
Nope ... I'm not over checking out the new eye candy yet ... decided I'd better check up on the old threads before I mozied on over to see the new stuff!!
Same weather here today ... a freaking snow storm and then in a few hours it was melting away ... MUD glorious MUD indeed ... and I always hate grey snow! Wondering who's going to figure out the challenge?? Come on Ladies .... you can do it! :) |

I am going to get caught up.
I modified Broken Heart so the flying geese would be an even measurement and I love the star it made in the middle. Boy's Playmate was one disaster after the next. Luckly for me I lost the middle piece so I just made it solid black out of pure frustration! |
