Thank everyone for the kind comments. Blue is my favorite color, I haven't decided what to use for sashings yet, I might use a beige, just not sure yet. Like jan quilting one block at a time is sure a lot easier.

Presenting! "The OTHER Blue Quilt" :D

I FINALLY found my sashing strips I cut out months ago, so I will be working on that next.... I have to catch up on the last four blocks, hopefully SOON :D

Oh thanks for sharing this delightful, lovely selection of your quilt!! So what's your sashing like? Anxious to see.

QuiltE 07-14-2012 08:32 PM

It's ever so wonderfull DDamsel!!
And me too ... totally curious as to what the sashing will be!

JeanieG 07-14-2012 09:46 PM

Those all look so great together Deranged! What color sashing are you using?

deranged_damsel 07-15-2012 04:39 AM

the sashing is a dark medium brown color. I am going to go with quiltE suggestion as well and start looking for some lace, or eyelet maybe???

janRN 07-15-2012 04:41 AM

Beautiful, DD. You're going to have an outstanding quilt-love the different shades of blue you've used.

WOW! that was a way back ... I had such a time finding lace when I did my OBW. So I hope it's easier for you! How are you planning to include the lace?

Now you're talking like me ... dark medium! Can't wait to see some sashing installed ... andto think none of us asked about cornerstones? Cream?iveory/Beige/Ecru (kind of fits with dark medium!!) :D

deranged_damsel 07-15-2012 06:16 AM

Yes it was WAY BACK! but it was a WONDERFUL idea! so Im going to do it. if I have to search the world over I will find the perfect lace :D

For cornerstones Im thinking a darker light color, more beige or dark cream LOL

Now don't use that as a reason to stall production!!!
Here's another idea .... what about for some of the upcoming blocks, an overlay of the lace on navy? I'm thinking that you're thinking lace in the borders? perhaps even a ruffled lace? ooooooooh I like!

mirabelle 07-16-2012 04:07 AM

Just catching up and I LOOOOOVVVVEEE your blue quilts GrannyQ and Deranged, how different they both look.

deranged_damsel 07-16-2012 05:06 AM

Reeeeeeeeaaaaaaalllllly?
Which ones? or all of the above?
BTW ... are you back home, safe and sound now? Or still with your family, away from the smoke and fire?

deranged_damsel 07-17-2012 06:48 AM

:D all of the above :D

no we are good now, the fire is out! we had a couple of good downpours, one BIG flash storm as well! I didnt even have time to get all of the laundry off the line before we got hit with sideways rain and hail! two of the brand new baby goats got caught out in it as well, so they got to dry off in the house with DHs grandkids that were visiting for the day :D we also have a bottle baby that they got to feed :D SO after 10 minutes of storm had passed by the kids got to go run and jump and play in mud puddles :D my kitchen is STILL a mud mess after baby goats and grandkids... but OH they had FUN!!!

GGal
... Sadly, I don't qualify for this thread! I got as far as #38 (I think!) and then life seemed to get interrupted with Butter Display prep and then the Fairs and ... and ... and ..................

I haven't sewn any since the first week of August, except for the two Quilt Labels that I did this week for the two quilts going in the Show/Sale tomorrow.

I just wish I knew WHEN I could get back into the groove ... as now I have the first two weeks of November out of town for work, and then there's my Christmas To-Do's!! arrrrrghhh Maybe this is why I am sick?

Me-Thinks I may be transferring to the Miniature Pony Club!!

Would be great eye candy for all of us...

QuiltE 10-12-2012 11:26 AM

But but but ... it wouldn't be good eye candy, as it's short on the numbers!

I just went back, and posted already are
MiraB, JanRN, GGal, JeanieG, GrannyQ and DDamsel.
I think it's time for you Cowgirls to show us your continuing flock of blocks! :)

So what about the other Lil Cowgirls who have been skipping right along???
Me-thinks that
CarrieM, Honchey and QNSue have 45 done.
And what about O
KSGlad? ... she's been Boot Scootin' Boogie-ing along too, I think.

DDamsel ... what's been happening on the lace front? :D

QuiltingNinaSue 10-12-2012 02:11 PM

My count is 82 done; 6 more cut out ready to assemble sometime ???

And when does that Long Arm move from the Moss Sisters to your Home Sweet Quilting Home?
yeeeehaaaaaaaaaawww!!!! :)

QuiltingNinaSue 10-13-2012 04:50 AM

Whatever will be will be, if its God's plan, then we will go with whatever. $$$$$ are not in the budget. I am introducing her Sunday afternoon to others who quilt in the area; and in November to the cross stitch group, which she has a passion for yearning to do more of than quilting. She even took my unfinished masterpiece to finish for me.

She had listened when I related the tale of our last Christmas with dd before she met her love and married; we made adult Christmas stockings together and I treasure that memory of love. So she made her siblings each a cross stitched Christmas stocking, and wanted to back it with corduroy, so we made a little FART trip yesterday on my nickel. It was a success, we found a bargain price for her to get what she needed for that and fabric for her to make a 'fishing' quilt like mine as well. Enjoyed the local cross stitch show in my bank, finished the good day with Dairy Q. ice cream. Perfect day.

QuiltE, you have a month or two, so its possible to get that sewing machine to humming along and finish with us...you are over a third done.

QuiltE 10-13-2012 03:17 PM

Aw ... thanks for the confidence QNSue ... I first will have to get the Christmas To Do's out of the way and then once that's done I can seriously sew what "I" want to! :)

Sounds like a fun day for the two of you yesterday ... and of course, the best part ... ending it with ice cream!

Maybe Santa will bring the LA to you in a giant stocking! :D

Here are my two quilts (each missing a few blocks)...I don't have the blocks exactly where I want them but you get the idea of the layouts. The one with the blocks on point will have a blue sashing and border around the middle blocks and then a border of blocks all the way around. The other blocks in rows will have red sashing.

This is 54 blocks total....

oksewglad 10-13-2012 06:57 PM

Oh thanks for sharing Carrie! These are going to be show stoppers for sure!
Mini pony club--too funny!

Hey ... I'm serious!

CarrieM ... nice pair of groups! What are the plans for the two quilts? For your kids? or?

carriem 10-13-2012 07:34 PM

QE--The quilts will go on the bed I laid them out on...it is a built in bed (day bed?) in our living room. I figured it would be fun to have two different quilts. I will take a picture of the room when it is light out so you can see better. Need to be getting to bed now....

That'll be perfect! A coordinating set ... yet each unique unto itself. Will you use the same backing for both? or different ones?

dublb 10-13-2012 10:00 PM

Carrie is it a Murphy bed that folds out? I thought a Daybed is one that looks like a couch. Or is it just a built in bed?
PS. Beautiful blocks that will make a couple o' lovely quilts.

The bed was built into an alcove...it was originally a double and stuck out into the room, we cut it off to make it a twin. The bookshelf to the left is also built in. The "wallhanging" (being used as a curtain) was my inspiration for using KT fabrics. It was a gift from a friend. There was another bookshelf on on the right of the bed, but it took up too much space so we took it out. Behind the tv is my 1st quilt...

We usually have pillows along the back of the bed, but they were taken off so we could pull down the projector screen...we are going to play the Wii this afternoon and some games are much better on "the big screen" (you can see it at the top of the back windows...just fit!) That was a $1 auction buy (the screen I mean). Oh and if you noticed the pillow in the ceiling...there is a skylight there but when we use the projector during the day have to block the light. :)

Oh and that is Beatrice taking a nap on the bed...they (she and her sister, Ginger) can only get on that bed if there is a quilt laid out...don't want black hairs on the light cover. Not sure what the rule will be when my PC quilts are on there!

Figured I would show a picture of my 1st quilt too...when it was unwashed and still bright.....I learned the hard way not to use cheap fabrics and after just a couple years of use the fabrics are dull and wearing out so the quilt got a place on the wall in the living room instead of our bed.

carriem 10-14-2012 07:34 AM

I forgot to answer about backing...I haven't chosen it yet. I will probably check the sale fabric where I work and if I can find enough to use the same on both I will. Otherwise just get what I can for a good price.

QuiltE 10-14-2012 07:42 AM

What a practical and fun bed couch! And a great way to make use of low head-knocker section. Love all the windows in it.
I'm sure it is well used by kids, adults ..... and dogs too!
Do Beatrice and Ginger have their own quilts? :D

What a nice first quilt you have ... keep it forever, as a reminder!

dublb 10-14-2012 01:21 PM

So if ya have big pillows along the back then it can be a Daybed 'cause then it looks like a couch. It's so neat! Such a nice space.

carriem 10-14-2012 03:49 PM

My dd is working on quilts for the dogs. She has the top done for one of them...but goes in spurts on wanting to sew, so I am not sure when she will finish them.
