I am now finally eligible for this thread! I have 46 blocks done, but not the first 46. Sorry that it's not the best pic! Maybe someone will give us some lessons some day as to how to capture better ones?

Please take a look and give me some feedback as to what colours I should work on as I do the next blocks in order to get a better balance of colours and to make sure the colour flows with the sashings and cornerstones. FYI, they are just on ther e... but not in any particular order. I know that needs a LOT of work, and as with the FWS, I'll wait til the end to work on that. Wow beautiful QuiltE. Colourwise, no more reds or browns. You made one block (upper left) with hardly any yellow background colour. I would do some more like that or remove that one because IMHO it looks a bit odd being the only one with almost no yellow. Like Jeanie said, more blue and green.

I think you have a real nice balance; that yellow makes the blocks stand out (and I'm not a yellow fan). I'm going to humbly disagree with Anael about the "solid" looking block. I ended up with a few that read "solid" without the background fabric visible and when scattered around the quilt top they seem to break up the quilt and give your eye a place to stop. If that's the only one, yes, I would remove it but I think maybe 4 that read solid and scattered around add something. Again this is just my VERY humble opinion.

I've been seeing a lot if old quilts and they have a yellow they call cheddar yellow. It's starting to grow on me. I like your use of yellow.

I like the way you have it, QuiltE. Please listen to all advice (which has merit), then do it your way...the way that pleases you. I had put my PC up on the vertical board, juggled blocks around before it came down for others in November, December went up since they had to be done ASAP. Now I am of a different mind set, and lettered every block the week of on PC and the number the block was in the book...and followed the same sequence because its easier to 'tell' my story of each block for gs. At about a finished ten inch blocks, the nine blocks across and ten down will be perfect for the daybed dd has in her living room that we sleep on when we visit her in Nebraska.

JanRN and Anael ... good point about some blocks with less yellow. There's been times I could have done that, and tried not to, thinking i had to keep to more of a pattern. See bottom right with the cows coming home and the one above it, there's dark to the edge, but both with more yellow than the top left. Will work on that! Kind of like MercysLand's mention in one of the books, that a dirty block gives the eye a place to rest!

JanRN ... I almost pointed out that the quilt did not need more yellow and was thinking of you, the whole time!

Anael ... the blue boot is actually a skate! When I put away my Christmas ornaments, I kept it out, thinking it might be a pattern to an addition to the next Fr♥sty!

GGal ... I think the old fashioned cheddar is a stronger colour than mine. It's a batik, so has some movement with the shading that has a touch of pink to it. I wish I had enough of it to use for the backing now.

Backing? ... What colour do you think I should consider? I had been planning on those kitties I bought some time ago but now that it looks like I am going bigger ......... I see a somewhat plain backing as then I will send it to the LAQ. She did a beautiful job of the FWS and it could easily be reversable to a full cloth look, so am thinking the same for this one.

Another sigh here! So lucky to be so far! Color balance is very good and have no new suggestions on additional blocks. I know the block placement is temporary; but those two "muddy" blocks need to be separated. I think you know that too.:)

QNSue ... Does this mean you are doing a "print" book for DGS? Hope so! You have seen how I have been labelling these, as I did the FWS. When I assembled the FWS, then I mapped the codes onto a grid so I would have the block names for reference, and will do so again. Oh, you know I will do as I please ... though I like to hear everyone's thoughts to feed my brain as it makes the decidions!

OKSGlad ... oh definitely! I obviously haven't paid any attention or else I would have had them separated by now! Will do that the next time I go into the sewing room, to start the segregation. Colour ideas?

Yep, I did a grid, QuiltE. Then went a step more, printing the name of the block on it, and the week of PC when we did it. So the sequence of block order follows the original book the patterns. Of Course, I made notes in the PC book, as I did in the FWSQ book...had a contact on QB that wanted to 'buy' my FWSQ book...and I said a firm, 'No!"

Both books will stay with the respective quilt. They contain the stories for right now. Gave thought to printing out the page of each block I made and displayed on QB but the number is a bit over whelming combining the FWSQ one hundred and eleven books and the PC ninety blocks. Still thinking.

QNS, I'm doing the same with my Dear Jane book, it's like a little diary. I didn't do that with the PC book though and in my Sylvia Bridal Sampler book I only write the date I finish the block. But selling those books: NO, never!

Anael and QNSue ... are your notes in your books, the changes or tricky things about the quilt block? or more about what is happening in your lives as you make the blocks? or your personal reminiscences as to memories the blocks made you think about? Great idea to do all the notes.

My books have the dates I completed each block and then number of pieces .... nothing else though. And no way I would get rid of them. Aside from the stories in the books, I see them as an incredible resource to use when looking for different blocks to make.

A few years ago, I bought a perpetual calendar with a block every day. It's kind of fun to turn the page each day and see what the next block is. I've often thought it'd be fun to make each block in the calendar, doing it one block per day! Maybe some day? ... or perhaps that'd be some year?
