Hi Y'all, Week 15 is upon us and now's the time for all of you to show me some of your "Lovelies". I don't have mine done for this week as my knee is acting up and it hurts too much to sew...so let the show begin!!!!

Omg, the black and white "kid" fabric is the cutest fabric ever.

Yes, Honchey, I hope your knee gets better; I am back on Glucosamine, 1000 mg, over the counter medicine that Dr. Minter put me on to ease the joint discomfort in my knees. It sure helps me.
Ok , to try to post: |

I did not yet finish Doe and Darts. I am hoping to get that one and Eastertide done by next week!
here is Elsies.... |
*sigh*
As always, beautiful work,Ladies!! Honchey ... so sorry about your knee. Could you sew using your left foot for the pedal? I'd never tried that til recently when I read on a QB thread that many used left for "go", and right knee for lifting the presser foot. I was surprised how fast I adapted to it ... and how much more I am now using the auto-lift. JanieW ... oh so perfect, from sedate to whimsey! Great contrasts for both. Anael ... LIkewise, whimsey and sedate. Your pinkish mottled is interesting, some yellow peeking thru and almost seems like a tad of green, too. MiraB ... just when I think you've shown us some great fabric pairings you come with another. D+D brown and blue is ever so nice. You've really outdone yourself with the FC floral and then the stripes in Elsie's! QNSue ... Those Does look like they are on alert for Darts coming their way! Is DublB out a-huntin-and-a-shootin'? I'm hoping to join you with some deer in my D+D block too! DDamsel ... So delicate looking! |

Does & Dart almost did me in but I perservered. My Elsie's Favorite is a little wonky. I'm singing the same tune--hope it can be quilted out.
|
Oh JanRN ... those are stunning!!! And I can see why that is Elsie's Favourite!! Incredibly beautiful ... you couldn't have picked better fabrics!! :)
|
Beautiful blocks JanRN, that is a lovely piece of rose fabric and you FC is spot on.
|
What a great kickoff to another week.
JanieW...your EF has such beautiful curves...boys must all like her. And it doesn't look like the D&D's y corners even fazed you. Anael...your blocks are also well done. I don't see any puckers and the colors works together great. Mirabelle...your blocks take my breath away. I LOVE your fabric choices. They make the pattern sing! QNSue...you really dressed up the D&D block...to have an actual doe! EF has a great story. Just add sashing and watch her take the show. DDamsel...you did the one being grumbled about the most first and nailed it. Well done. JanRN...love the fussy cutting on the EF. What a beautiful frame for the rose. Preservance paid off. I've only gotten D&D 3/4 done for the week but it did get 3 quilt tops bordered and off the my friend to LAQ. My deadlines for birthday, anniversary, and wedding were getting too close to procrastinate any longer. Today there is some catch up in the garden and laundry so I'll make no promises. Need to put sashing on the 15 for show and tell next week too. |
GGal .... woohoo!!! you've been motoring! ... bet that feels good to see them off to the LAQ!! :)
|
What beautiful blocks yinz have made! I thought they were both hard even though Elsie's Favorite looked so easy.
Just back from spending all day in ER with my mother (she fell Wed am). Still waiting results of MRI on hip; all x-rays negative (thank God) but they gave her IV morphine and she is zonked out. Sent me home so I'm decompressing looking at all your beautiful work. I thank you for all the compliments on my block--keeps me motivated to stay with them. |
{{{{{HUGS}}}}} to you JanRN
... you need these more than we need any compliments about our blocks! Decompress a little now ... and then try to get yourself a good night's sleep! |
Hey Ya'll: I'm so busy this week! I'm determined ta finish my DGS's quilt (I'm putting the binding on now) & I have another cousin in town. They are coming' ta town ta see our DGM. She lives with my DM. The one that is in town this week is the brother of the one that came last month. I'm so glad ta see 'em. Yesterday I got ta babysit my DGS. That was a lot of fun! Is there anything better than Grand-babies?
Jan - I'm praying for your DM. I'm so sorry. Do ya have any hand work ta do in the hospital while sitting with her? It was what saved me. God be with you! |
JanRN sending prayers and good thoughts your way, hope your DM recovers soon
|
Everyone, all your blocks are beautiful this week, as always. I got stumped on D&D, then had it half done, then saw I had put the wrong color in the wrong place. Don't know what Elsie's Favorite will have in store for me. So, I'm getting a little behind. To be honest though, the weather here has been gorgeous and I've been choosing to be outside instead of in the sewing room. But I will get back to it, you all inspire me so much! JanRN, I do hope your Mom gets well soon. I know what it's like, I've been there. Take care.
|
Jan, you are in my thoughts and prayers! Hang in there girl!
I have these blocks cut out and started sewing late last night. Decided late in the evening is NOT the time to do these! LOL Will try again today! |
Termi ... Isn't that annoying when you notice the wrong colour show up! It must be the block, as I did the same, and then had to rrrrrrrrripit! :)
JeanieG ... Oh.So.True! Not blocks to do when one is tired ... I know oh so well! Granted when I put the wrong fabric on, it had nothing to do with being tired ... just "stoopidity" on my part! :) |

QuiltE, it sure is annoying. What I can't understand is why it took me soooo long to notice the mistake. I guess I'm just on automatic.
Me too!! I'm heading back to that D+D in a few minutes, and I can only hope that it is more cooperative today! :) |

Nope, not PP. I just used the templates! Yours are both great too QuiltE. Love the deer leaping through you Doe and Darts. Great fussy cutting on Sophie's Favorite. Now gotta get busy on next weeks blocks. They look really hard too! |
beautiful blocks ladies
|
Green-eyed at your blocks, ladies. You both pulled it off so great!!!
|
WOW! These blocks look really great!!..both the blocks and the piecing!!
Also look like they will take a bit of time to complete...I'll get there one of these days. |
JeannieG, what beautiful blocks!! Nice job on both!
QuiltE, I see you nailed D&D AND EF. I love the deer in D&D and the colors in both blocks are beautiful!! Great job!! I actually did finish D&D and it looks right to me but who knows. If you see any colors out of place please don't tell me. Will post picts later. |
Aww gee, Thanks Everyone ... though my Elsie's is not near so spectacular as those that got their curves so smooth and even.
I sure need LOTS of practice on THAT technique!! |
I don't know QuiltE - those curves look perfect to me! And thanks everyone for the kind comments on my blocks. They took a while!!!
|
Oh, Wow! Everybody's blocks are awesome! Those curves look very intimidating. I'm not sure when I'll git to 'em.

I did not think they were as hard as I anticipated. I aligned the middle of each piece, then started stitching in the middle. I gently pulled the two sides together as I stitched. I used my 1/4" foot, but had also marked the 1/4" line on the pieces. They seemed to come together very easily. I pinned the 1st one, and it was really wonky, so I tore it out and just held the pieces together and slowly sewed.
JeanieG, I did my EF exactly the way you did. I found that if I used pins it came out worse than if I just held the pieces together and sewed very slowly. Finally, here are mine for the week. I find that if I use Best Press when the block is finished, the fabric gets wavy. Does anyone know why? QuiltE, I see nothing wrong with your curves, they look perfect! |
Termi ... I've had the waves happen with some of my yellow. I was blaming it on the fact that it was a batik. And too, have thought that perhaps the iron was too hot as it doesn't happen all the time and does not seem to be happening to my regular quilting cottons. I've started to use BP, but have NOT used it on the PC yet (trying to use up stash of spray starch). So I don't think it's the BP to blame .... and I have been able to get the waves pressed out, eventually.
Wonder? try a spritz of water, and then press those waves out? Great fabric choices for both blocks. The subtlety of D+D works! And love the FUN in Elsie's! Your curves are more than perfect! |
Termi, wonderful job on your blocks. Love your little cowpokes!!
|
Termi your blocks are sooooo cute! Your points are nice & sharp especially in EF.
|
Your blocks turned out just great Termi! Cute fabric in EF!

Here are mine for this week. I finally figured out why EF was so difficult but only after I was done. There are no dots to match up when easing the outside pieces onto the block. If the first piece is cockeyed, it all goes downhill from there. I'm singing the same song as I heard about this block, "the quilting will take care of the ruffles." I looked ahead and there are no more curves.
