I hope you have a wonderful day QNS! Happy Birthday! I think you just caught up with me (74).

QuiltingNinaSue 09-27-2016 11:02 AM

Yeb!:o It is a good age indeed. My hometown quilt shop's owner, Cindy has a birthday today. She is younger than I am...has more grandchildren, too.

sewbizgirl 09-27-2016 03:59 PM

I did something real fun today... cleaned and vaccuumed house and sprayed it all down for fleas... also flea treated the pets! NOT fun... hope Nina had a MUCH better day!

oksewglad 09-27-2016 04:10 PM

Happy Birthday, Nina...we had a day full of sunshine up here...Hope you had the same...

QuiltingNinaSue 09-27-2016 04:44 PM

Cool, sunny and a beautiful day here. Just got back from a Steak Dinner in my hometown cafe. A kind neighbor drove us and paid for the meal. Golly, it was the BEST George and Nick cafe has a 4.5 rating out of five...it should be five. Pizzas are very good there too, I have heard. Service is excellent and the cooks know how to cook good steak.

givio 09-27-2016 05:11 PM

QNS, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy biiirthdaaaay, deeeeaaaar Nina, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to YOU! <:) <:)

janRN 09-27-2016 05:48 PM

Happy birthday, QNS, wishing you peace, joy, and many more.

sewbizgirl 09-27-2016 10:02 PM

Steak dinner... yummy! What a great neighbor.

QuiltingNinaSue 09-28-2016 04:45 AM

Thank you all. It was a wonderful peaceful day. Cell phone rang most of the day. I do not celebrate this much in normal years, but this one was very special...and turned out to be quite a nice day. Now to make up the time in the QR today and finish the top and bottom border on Savannah. Thinking about putting the backing together as a 'second' quilt, reversible with a panel of a Stag deer and trees in autumn shades of orange and yellows. It would go together quickly...and surprise BIL with the two choices. He has always been a brother to dh and Uncle to our children, no matter where we lived, he came to visit. No gifts or money, just was there to know them. Which is more than any other member of dh family did.

Nina....recognize any of these fabrics? These are going to DS and DD as anniversary gifts...both were married in the fall...we have a waterfall about 1/4 mile from the barn and the road that goes south from our driveway looks like the one in the scene...plan on making 2 more for other 2 sons...wish they were summer scenes as they have June anniversaries. Oh well...

sewbizgirl 09-28-2016 04:14 PM

Those are so pretty, OK!

QuiltingNinaSue 09-28-2016 05:58 PM

Well done , OK. I wish I had read your message befpre I went to town. I am sure I had some summer landscape in my landscape totes. Yes, I know I have grey/black rocks with green grass, tall green grass....fisherman fly fishing, etc. Will sent you an email tomorrow.

JeanieG 09-28-2016 06:46 PM

Those wall hangings are wonderful OK. So easy to make, but so effective! Love them!

oksewglad 09-28-2016 09:33 PM

Thanks for the kind comments....there is a nice e pattern on the Red Rooster website, and we have kits made up at the shop with it, but I am kind of a maverick and like to have my own take on it. Had no idea what I was going to do, then thought flying geese in fall. Having the geese in just the corners helped solve the problem of uneven width and length of the panel...I had the rust and the geese came from Nina's box...the binding also came from her...tonight I got them sandwiched and started in the ditch quilting around the geese...plan on doing 3 lines of parallel stitching in the L shaped corners. I think I will get another panel for the other 2...it's not often one finds scenes that look like your own backyard.

QBuddy and I are shop hopping tomorrow...just to see what's new in some of our favorite shops.

JuneBillie 09-29-2016 12:49 PM

Such a pretty quilt top, and all finished. Oh I love the beautiful flowers, and those sweet ducks. :)

givio 09-29-2016 02:39 PM

Wow! QNS, some beauties in your yard!
I love that border on your quilt top. You've out done yourself on this one!

oksewglad 09-29-2016 05:58 PM

Really like the cornerstones and sashing...frames the blocks so well. Nice to see flowering beauties before the first frost...

sewbizgirl 09-29-2016 06:03 PM

QNS, thank you for sharing all that beauty! The quilt top turned out STUNNING. I love it. Your flowers are all beautiful too. I especially love irises and have never seen a better yellow one! And your ducks are so cute too. Your pics gave me lots of smiles. Thank you!

The only flowers I have blooming right now are what's left of my geraniums. They are getting pretty shriveled and the leaves keep coming back smaller and smaller when they fall off. But they continue to bloom. They give and give and give.

Today was our first COOL, Fall-like day! The humidity vanished too. I just wanted to stay outside all day.

JeanieG 09-29-2016 07:24 PM

That quilt turned out great QNS! You did a great job. Love the flowers and baby ducks too. You always cheer me up with your posts!

Honchey 09-30-2016 08:38 AM

QNS, Thanks for brightening up my day..the quilt is so bright & cheerful fall colors...Love the flowers & ducks..

I haven't been doing too much..walked into an ottoman with bunn feet and broke 2 toes..Hurts like hell when I walk.. It was dark and I thought I was going in the right direction... I wanted to get a pedicure but that's not possible right now..the black & blue toes won't match the nail polish. :D
That's not too bad..I was reaching to get my eyeglasses off and I gouged my nose with my thumb fingernail..I've been walking around with a very noticeable scab on my nose..What else could happen to me..I'm afraid to go in the sewing room I might break my neck or some other bony part of my body..
It has rained almost every day..I'm almost wishing it's the middle of October and we're heading back up north..but then there's another hurricane in the works and we'll be greeted with more rain..
Sewbiz, I'm going to try to get my DH to think about a day trip to Georgetown before we leave. I'm going to call them first to see what the procedure is
Aghhh, enough complaining...Hope all of you are well and enjoying yourselves..Have a good day.. H.

JeanieG 09-30-2016 09:32 AM

Gosh Anne, wish we could get just a little of that rain your experiencing. We are soooo dry out here on the West Coast! Where we are located, even though the LA area (which is about 50 miles South of us) often gets some rain, it misses us. So awful!!!

oksewglad 09-30-2016 10:41 AM

Feeling like fall today...cooler with some wind...not too cool to have windows open though.

Oh dear, Honchey. I too had problems with my right foot yesterday...found some lead in it...or should I say a Smokie found some lead...$114 later...the thing is I was driving very responsibly all day...was coming down a long hill and there the patrol car was as I wasn't paying attention to my speed...QBuddy and I were gabbing away...other than that twas a great day...found some wide flannel backing to put on a quilt, borders for QOV quilt I'm sewing, a beautiful piece of gold tinged fabric at the end of the bolt and some blue to match it, a pretty blue with some tiny berries in it perfect to use with my minis, and a 4plus yard piece for $5 a yard...should be done buying for a while.

Honchey 09-30-2016 10:47 AM

I'm so very lucky as far as Smokies go..My DH is a retired NJSP and the decal on the car has gotten me out of many a "lead " problem... Many of which I have never told him about..Won a trophy in a "Powder Puff" stock care race with my then current boy friend in my much younger days..It was alot of fun.. Loooong time ago..:D

sewbizgirl 09-30-2016 03:08 PM

Honchey sorry about the broken toes! That's hurt is incredible. I broke just one a couple of years ago when a chair fell on it-- the back of a metal framed chair that had tipped over. I was trying to catch the cat and didn't move my foot out of the way in time. I thought I would DIE from the pain! Even now, years later, I get twinges of it. Hope you heal up fast and with no complications.

OK sorry about the ticket! I hate getting them and better knock on wood because I haven't had one in a while. They are always such a waste... but I hate poking along slow too. I want to get where I'm going.

I delivered all my stuff for the craft fair today. Just have to show up early and set it all up tomorrow, but at least I won't have to carry it all in. It's at my space now. Wish me luck! I have a lot of stuff to sell.

Everyone have a nice evening...

givio 09-30-2016 05:09 PM

Honchey, well, you might have thought you were complaining, but... well... it was sort of funny to read that you hurt yourself taking off your glasses. :-) That's a new one!
Hasn't everyone stubbed their toe, and knows how that feels, and worse to break it! Ouch! The thing with feet, I agree with SBG, those foot injuries come back to haunt you. I have two toes that won't give it up, years later.
I'm happy to have my blocks back from the Hunter's Star swap and hoping to get further on that this weekend. Did you girls see the pictures I posted on the Sept swap?

No, but will go and look!

We just got home from the all day craft fair. Dusty, sweaty, dirty from being outside on what turned out to be a HOT day. But we had a great day, saleswise! For me the most exciting part was selling things that were my 'last of's and really need to GO. I'm glad someone wanted to love them! I sold 4 quilts, among many other things. Love it! But I am totally beat. The booth 'next door' to us was selling bath balls, and they gave us some at the end of the day so we could go home and soak and recuperate. Met some great folks today....

Honchey 10-01-2016 04:44 PM

Jeanie, You updated your photo!!!! soooo nice!!!

Yes, my other one was when I first came onboard here! This was taken at my friends house last year! It took me several tries to figure out how to change it.

sewbizgirl 10-01-2016 09:19 PM

Jeanie, what a pretty picture of you!

dublb 10-01-2016 09:51 PM

I haven't been on much as DM is still in the hospital. I hope that she has surgery on Tues. She has a secondary infection & is running (make that toddling) to the bathroom alot. My DSis & I are taking 24 hour shifts staying here w/DM. I am about wore out. (I do have another DSis but she can't be bothered to come & help.) I am bitter about it. I hope that I can let it go but seem to be failing right now. (This is the DSis that had the nose cancer & I sat w/her through so many surgery's.)

JeanieG 10-01-2016 10:10 PM

Oh dublb so sorry about your DM! She has been in the hospital for quite a while now. I hope that they can do the surgery and she can be on the mend soon. It is so hard to be at the hospital day and night. I know how that can wear your out! Sorry also about your other DSis that is not doing a thing to help. That is awful!

I have several things in the works at this time. I am sewing the final rows on my FWS 30's quilt.

We got the final clue on the 14th Mystery Train Ride (here on the Board) - wow that is an awesome tablerunner or tablecloth (that is what I am doing), or quilt. If you have time, check it out under Blocks of the Month/Week. Judy did a spectacular job on this one.

I have completed quilting my Bonnie Hunter Celtic Solstice Quilt, have the binding made and just need to sew it on. Always busy!!!

JuneBillie 10-02-2016 08:07 PM

A lovely younger looking picture, JeanieG. With any luck at all, I will be shipping out your boxes tomorrow; Will update you then.

dublb, prayers for you and your sister caring for you DM. May all go well and she heals quickly.

Quilt inspector on the job here...have added more border on one side...sigh, other side yet to do and binding on top and bottom...but I love its look now.added more on side border. Its the Midnight Garden pattern done has High Noon or California Gold Poppies quilt.

To ease your minds, I still have fabric totes in the guest roomand closet. And in the Quilt Room:
And the closet picture in QR is not there now..but its almost full, too, so I do have fabric...and more fabric, to offer me challenges this winter. Plus two trips to DM coming up the end of the month...IF there is any $$ to spend or not. Nice shop shop going on now, but have not heard of any offers yet to go now until Friday. Sigh. I would love to go and 'see' but not expecting any contact to go to any of them.

Have a good day. . . and a good week.

JeanieG 10-03-2016 10:45 AM

Wow QNS, looks like you are organized with what you have. I see you have marked your bins with markers. Did you use the Expo Vis-a-Vis wet erase ones. I discovered them a few years ago and mark all my bins with them. The marks stay on until you remove them with a wet rag/paper towel. Really awesome!

I'll be waiting eagerly for the boxes! Please let me know right away what the cost of mailing is and I will send you a check.

QuiltingNinaSue 10-03-2016 11:05 AM

OK...I will email you tomorrow when we get home from my hometown. No , I did not use erasable ink, did use a paper in some of them. Decided to be empty totes into empty totes to have more room for more fabric...LOL!

Honchey, thinking of you and your sore toes. Ouch! My MIL kicked a chair with her toes on the way to the bathroom and broke her toes. Very painful. Hope they heal up quickly.
