Bev, beautiful! Cacti don't bloom like that here, it's too cold. I've seen them blooming in France.

I have some pictures of what I made for the twins today.

On the white smock I made a tiny pocket. The pink one is jersey, soft but not like flannel.

Now aren't those cute???? Way ta go Grandma! Those babies are so loved!

Ggal, you must be so relieved and happy to have your son home. Thank you and him for his service.

Bev, congrats on the new SUV. You'll have lots of fun. Did you have to show those beautiful cacti when our weather here really sucks LOL!!!!

Anael, beautiful family. They are going to be the best dressed babes in the nursery-great job.

Dubib...what beautiful flowers. I've never seen prickly pear in bloom before.
Anael...thanks for the pictures. Things are looking good in the nursery. How thankful we are!
QNS...glad there are no calories in your goodies and I'm sure it must have been QuiltE that snitched the cake. None of us would ever have done that.:)
Jan...I don't think Phil would taste very good but if anyone could make it tasty, leave it to QNS!
i quilted another row of PC blocks...only one more to go! A change of pace, I started sewing rows of blocks together. That feels REALLY good. Friday, I'm going to Shipshewana for a Fons & Porter event but there are many wonderful LQSs in the area so this will be a FART. I've been through my limited stash and have decided I'll look for a border print for my PC. we haven't gotten any snow yet but are far enough south that we're only supposed to get a dusting overnight.

Helllooooooooooooooo ... yup it was I ... only because I was led astray by DDamsel! :D
Darned good too ... though those Cinnamon Rolls are really calling to me!

Count me in on the flannelette escapade!! I think it's better that we let CarrieM do a major shop and coordinate all together.

CarrieM ... be sure to include the postage in your tally of what we owe you! Likewise for the postage of the BBs back to us. Hope you are feeling better ... must have been with the Rosie completion. It's stunning!

Anael .. what a sweet pic with Mom, Dad and Bram. Love Isa's pic with the stuffy and I bet Mick is pretty proud of that one! Great productivity today with your sewing. The blue check .... is that one of those pillow thingy's to hold their head/neck in place? or what? Can you tell that I have no clue what baby things are, let alone what they are called? Re flannelette be sure you get extra as remember, it could shrink incredibly. So get extra, and then the leftovers can be used for other projects another time. Better make sure that you do "twin" matchy/coordinating things! Nothing sweeter. BTW ... first thing I spotted was the cow on the blanket.

Flannelette vs. fleece ... the fleece would handle the hot washing, though it does not breathe, and while the babies need to be warm, they might sweat it out too much. The cotton would breathe. Although DDamsel is our resident baby blanket/quilt maker and has it all down pat!

QNSue ... beautiful Christmas Cactus, just missed MrQNSue's birthday. My Grandfather always had them bloom at Christmas and again in July. How good of you to be so kind and thoughtful to AIL. She looks quite comfy there with your quilt

JanRN ... And if you're going to talk about Punxsutawney Phil, then I'll have to demand equal time for our own active rodent ... Wiarton Willie!!! :D And then there's Balzac Billie in JanieW's part of the country! :)

One of the church's near here has a Groundhog Stew supper ... a sell out every year. Of course, only a faux as they use ground beef! :)

DublB ... your other cacti are incredible!

DDamsel ... tempt me on the sewing ... AND the cake! You're such a baaaaaaaaad one!! :D I wonder if I leave it long enough, if the February one will come and will be easier (and smaller) than the dressmaker's dummy? So what escapades did you and DH get up to, today?

dublb 01-30-2013 05:39 PM

Anael I wanted ta let ya know what I know about flannel v. fleece. At one point #1 DSon thought he wanted ta be a fireman & took a 3 month course ta be one. He said that babies need ta wrapped well & only in 100% natural fibers. If there is a fire fleece & other man made fabrics will melt to the skin o' the babies. Older children & adults can git those fabrics off if there is a fire. Flannel is 100% cotton.

QuiltingNinaSue 01-30-2013 06:11 PM

Thanks, Dublb, for that information about fleece and flannel. I will remember that. Anael has given me one address for a bag for the walker, any one else have any ideas?

That ground hog will see his shadow on the Feb. 2nd, JanRN, 'cause they drag him out to see his public fans....and make their money for the town's economy with everyone there to see him.

Carrie, we all are thinking you will lead on the flannel gathering for the preemies and ship some to Anael. Maybe Anael has other ideas for flannel also or other needs we PC 'grandparents" can do for the preemies... and let us know on the $$ needed by private mail? Your Rosie quilt is quite nice, isn't it a relief to get one project done??

Yep, QuiltE, wish you had said 'hello' and come on back to sample the cinnamon rolls....dh really does not need all that sugar being diabetic II. Carrie, I do not cater away from home, sorry. You all will have to come here, the welcome mat is out....once the snow clears you might be able to see it. Thursday night the temps are really dipping down...one source says eleven below zero. I hope not.

gardnergal970 01-30-2013 06:16 PM

Carrie...your Rosie quilt looks great. Good job. Can you explain how you do SITD zigzag? Do you do it around all of the pieces in the blocks?
