OK...I remember those snow banks too. Hope the chores haven't gotten too extended by all of the tasks cold weather can bring.
DD...Topstitch and microtech needles have a more oval eye as well as a groove slightly above the eye for the thread to feed through and it does help with the breakage problem. My QB just went over her notes from FMQing class and the instructor recommended size 10 needles. My QB says it is really making a difference for her FMQing.
Mirabelle...it sounds like you've got the drill down pat for those upcoming storms.
JanieW....so happy that you found the TriRex tool. Starch your fabric as much as you can, and press not iron and you will get good results! I love your fabric.

i made a grocery run and stopped at my LQS today and picked up the rest of the fabric I need for the BB/MB quilt. I also have a final design figured out for my SYE. I love the way PP blocks look but they are so labor intensive that I'm going to fudge and use simple black/red/white slices so I have the same size/ shape blocks and be able to have a decent size quilt. I'll start making those blocks in February and have it ready when the last block comes out. Another storm passing through to the East. But as before....I'm not sending it!!!

The weather experts certainly got this one wrong, last night they said it was a Category 2 Cyclone and when it crossed the coast it was actually a tropical low. Although it did get very dark here about 4 yesterday afternoon so we had an early dinner in case we lost power They didn't even get where it was to cross the coast right, it was way way south of us.

We woke this morning to blue sky and sunshine so DH said you may as well go to patchwork today so I quickly threw my sewing machine in the car and a project and I was off. Had a great day of sewing, got the next two 50 star blocks made so happy with that.

Time to cook dinner do will chat to you all tomorrow

Don't lose hope on the Irish Mist, QNS. The batiks are so lovely. Nice to have your LQS look and see what's went wrong. Have you ever "stay stitched" the bias edge of your big triangle? Just sew a very scant 1/4" inch from the cut edge of the hypotenuse--it helps to prevent stretching. I'm still chuckling over the "bird brains"!
A bit of wet snow yesterday and side roads are all packed as plows weren't out to scrape it off. Now roads will get so snow packed they are slick--makes it fun going up and down hills. 2 hour late start for the kids. Ah winter....Glad we all have something to work on to keep us going.

GGal--thanks for the concern for weather. Fortunately things are going. Water fountain for the steers freezes so DH has to thaw that daily. DS has a couple at their place as well. Adds extra time to their daily work. Cow lot and alley ways take forever to thaw and loosen up. Lots of work when weather moderates. Hot chocolate and comfort food (ie- cinnamon rolls from the oven or even raisin cinnamon bread buttered with fresh churned butter, ham and potato soup simmering on the stove) always welcome.
