Thanks, everyone. I know she's not suffering anymore but my heart hurts.

We had a beautiful day yesterday. 85*F & only a small breeze. (False Spring!) DH & I planned some o' the plants we want ta plant. I still have plans ta plant one plant that DH doesn't want ta. We discussed it for quit a while yesterday. I reeeealy want ta plant it.
OOps I hit post before I was ready!
Taday the high will be 68*F & the wind is blowin' at about 20mph. There is a bit o' dust in the air. Not quite a dust storm but enough ta bother my breathin'.
Dear Jan I'm so sorry ta hear about your DF. I know that it's heart breakin'! HUGGS

We have had so much 70* temps that some of my fruit trees are blossoming! I see that, then think of all of you that are still in freezing temperatures and feel guilty for our warm weather! I'm sure that we will get some more cold weather, and the blossoms will not set! That happens a lot here! It looks like our Avocado tree is going to bloom soon, we have had really bad crops the last two years. We usually get a good crop (100+ fruit) every other year, but not this year. We have a dwarf Avocado tree!

February is the time to prune all trees, vines, and rosebushes here. Might get that done at the end of the week...if the weather goes the way its predicted to go. Need to cut all the rose bushes back to about 18 to 20 inches high; patrol the orchard and cut off all the limbs that are crossing one another on the fruit trees or getting too high to reach the fruit. Need at least two days to finish the job.

I have been stripping....just like Eleanor Burns....in TW directions...64 strips of brown fabric and 64 strips of Kona butter... sew each brown to the butter, then cut and make the four patch square...all 200 of them. Cut awhile and break. Sew awhile and break. Take pictures of the progress along the way.

Iowa State University Inn in Ames, Iowa, has removed all Gibeon Bibles from the bed side tables; one person complained. (They were taken to a reading lounge with limited open time.) How long before all motels and hotels are forced into doing the same thing??? Terrible news, I think. This is America and they are violating my rights! It is a choice, you do not have to open that drawer, and look at it or read it!!

Honchey, Where are you and how are you doing? Inquiring minds want to know....

QNS - I pruned our fruit trees last month. My roses, I tend to cut back to about 10". I like them to be compact and not too high! Some tend to get a lot taller than others, just by their nature. I have 31 rose bushes (can you tell I love them), 12 on one side of the front yard, and 19 on the driveway side. I use to be able to prune them all in one day, now I have to take them in sections, my back cannot take it after a while, so I break it up into several days sessions. It is the pits getting older!

Those are gorgeous QNS! I'll get some photos of mine when they bloom. Some of them are so old that I have been replacing them the last few years. I always get ones that have a strong fragrance, as I love to cut them and put them in the house.

Most of ours are from www.HeirloomRoses.com online...hardier than Wal Mart Climbers so they survive the winters here. Some have scent and some do not. DH is trying to get me to agree on extending the Wisteria vines around the front yard and put roses in front of the living room windows...he lets the chickens dig out the perennials that I have planted there...every year. I think it is time that we fence in the yard itself and keep the chickens out. Nor am I ready to extend the Wisteria poles and block the view from the living room windows. Spring is 31 days away!!
