Did any of you ever start a Nearly Insane quilt?

QuiltingNinaSue 03-30-2014 12:42 PM

No,....well, yes. Its still in the box with the fabric for 'someday'...or maybe never to be opened again. Are you starting on one at your young age?

Anael 03-30-2014 12:50 PM

Maybe QNS when I can get the book. As far as I know it's not available in my little country, I couldn't find it online!

Anael, I have that book on order. I got it from SoftExpressions. Don't know their international shipping policy but you can check the website. I'm not sure about when I'll start it but it looks interesting & challenging.

GGal, It is retail but it's a small leased area inside Joann's and for the most part I answer a lot of questions that the customers ask "where's this or that". I sit most of the time at the machines and I do sew my own "stuff" while I'm there..I only had 2 sales today of small product..no machines...It wasn't busy at all.. just 5 hours each day.Now , I won't be called in for months and probably longer "cause the knee will be "done" as soon as the tooth situation is cleared up.. Today I starched pressed & cut some strips into smaller pieces for some random blocks to do in between other random things.. I rather enjoy going in once in awhile.. I get to play with all the new machines...:)

Anael are you thinking of making this quilt, I have looked at it and followed someone who was making it and all I can say is "Better you than Me":D:D I think it would be a great challenge and you have had lots of experience with small pieces.

I have thought about my April goals and here they are:-

50 Stars - need to make 3 more to stay caught up
Sylvia - need to make 5 more for this month
Darkness - D E and F blocks for the border (I will finish this quilt this year)
Quilt Spike your English
Finish my next ABC quilt - I am up to J

Tomorrow I am off to town for a workshop at my LQS, this is the shop where I can use her longarm and she is also my Pfaff dealer. I am learning Cutwork, don't know if I will ever use it again but it should be a nice day out.

Anael 03-30-2014 09:33 PM

Jan, thanks! I visited their website, found it hard to navigate but when my LQS doesn't have the book I will order it there. We could start together :)
Yes, it sure would be a challenge. There's a website like Thatquilt where the making of the blocks is explained. That might be very helpful as there are no instructions in the book.

Mirabelle, I love your quilts ! ! ! ! Have a great day tomorrow (today I should say?) learning cutwork. Never done that. Please show us what you did !

Jan & Anael...I can see why it's called nearly insane! I looked through a couple of the blogs and the smallest piece in one block is 3/16 inch square. I can see why she was doing it EPP. I will sit this one out too.
Honchey...do you have a date yet for your knee fix?
Still compiling April's goals. The sun is shining again today and I'm itching to get outside. I have the borders cut for my DDs quilt all cut and will work on it today while the ground dries a little. Still soft and squishy.:wave:

Nice to hear from several riders, and see their progress on their March goals.

Mirabelle, you really can shift into high gear and get your sewing machines going on high speed ahead. Love all your work you display...its always first class wonderful and colorful. I just want to reach out and 'pet' it, its so beautiful.

Honchey, locally they are injecting a 'gel' under the knee cap to make it move free...I am looking into that now...and into Vail option, too. It is no fun having a bum knee. Glad you have your teeth all done, ready to look into the knee problem...good luck there.

I am going with bf tomorrow to sign up for a Bus trip...four states (Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, NE)....two days...includes Holden, Kansas, where our SYE patterns originated from. It is on April 24 and 25...and sounds like sooo much fun after the long winter that we have had. Plan to take lots of pictures...and look for some special items along the way. We will stay in a motel before and after the trip and not drive in the dark at all. Ans we will visit Lincoln, NE International Quilt Museum....we have been there before...that will be a real treat, too. Then down to visit the Missouri Star Quilt Company this summer.

Hi ladies, I love to see all the quilts you have made or started. Too many to comment on individually. Update on DH, he has been doing chemo about once a month, had to cancel today's tho, he has had the stomach flu since thursday. Now this morning his heart is out of rhythum and that means more days he doesn't feel very good. His next chemo is scheduled next Monday, hope we don't have to cancel because of Easter coming up, so he can go to church. His hair is almost gone. I guess its a good thing spring is here because of that. Most hats are too big, and he still wears his seed corn hats that he receive when we were farming. Hope everyone is feeling better by now. Good luck with your surgery Honchey & QNS if you also have surgery on your knee.
I really had a good laugh for the baby iron QNS, I really needed that. Some days go rather slow when I can't get to the basement to sew, so I started knitting again. I managed to sew a little bit yesterday for the first time in a couple of weeks. Please keep us in your prayers.
