WOW! So much went on while I was gone! Huggs for OK & "Thank You Lord" 's for QNS. :) I had a great retreat! We laughed & cut up so much. I was in charge o' the charity sew along & that took up all my sewin' time. I'm so tired now but glad ta finally be home.

Hi Everyone, Just got back online and have a ton of posts to read...will do the catching up later...

QNS, glad to hear you're doing better...

Cable guy hopefully fixed the problem on the pole this morning...I was going thru withdrawal symptoms. .got tired of playing solitare!!!

Everyone has been very busy with their projects and the finished quilts shown are just so great...
I see that Mirabelle is still "charged up" and Carriem is catching up !!!

Went to the dentist for a crown impression for my now healthy tooth...2 1/2 hours in the chair.. glad the ordeal is almost over....one more month to wait until I can think about the appt for the knee replacement...I am working one day in about 2 weeks and then 3 days in June...looking forward to being in the shop...I feel very uninspired right now and everything seems to be a struggle....I made a sample for a class sometime in the future for beginners using Jelly rolls while I was in NC, just need to put the top & bottom border on, ran out of fabric for it...Picked some up the other day..I knew it's a pattern that they keep in stock.....photos are still in the camera...with all the problems with the internet I couldn't very well send them....
It's raining here in NJ and my azaelas are blooming...the pollen count is out of site and I'm praying I don't get another allergy attack...my eyes look like peaches when that happens....I'll be staying inside as much as possible to avoid that...now would be a good time to get some housework done...I have too much stuff in this old house..time to get rid of some of it... H.

Dubib...so good to hear from you and the quilts will be much appreciated.
Honchey...very good news! Good progress to better health.
QNS...I hope this a complete reversal of the problem with your eye and that your vision will remain good.
Yesterday was a really fun day!!! I explored three quilt shops and a lot of countryside inbetween. I realized as I was driving that I've spent about half of my life in the southern WI and northern IL area and so enjoyed the sense of coming home. The shops were wonderful. I've come to the conclusion that I really prefer scrappy type quilts so didn't get much yardage but raided the FQs with much success....especially their sale bins. Also went to Joanne and got some of those wonderful storage boxes to put them in. They were on sale too!
just now I'm sitting in my DD's sunporch watching the birds at their bird feeders and what wouldn't wander up but a very large skunk! Fortunately all of their outside cats are still in the garage so hopefully nothing will provoke it to defend itself and smell up their entire back yard.
Today it's raining so I think I'll spend time making flying geese for the sashing for my Undergroung Railroad quilt. I've got everything kitted up.:wave::wave::wave:

GGal, what kind of boxes did you get for the FQs???

QNS, you must have had a lot of fun at those quilt shops!!! it was you in the photos wasn't it???

Question...Tennessee Waltz quilt in patriotic fabric using w/w stars for the background ?

QuiltingNinaSue 05-09-2014 03:12 PM

Yes, Ann, I am the old grey mare, and bf is the dark haired beauty. TW is not red, white and blue....that is the 50 stars...the TW was pictured earlier on is aqua blue, red with brown, brown with golden specks, aqua snowball blocks. QB who came last Tuesday said it sang to her...

Since the Bus Tour was my first, I wanted to document it by pictures, so I could reference them to know what was where; thank you for sharing your comments. I did not picture anything at the International Quilt Museum where camera flashes can damage the quilts. It is located at Lincoln, NE., where DD lives and we were having a very short conversation when the director was hurrying me to get into the group picture...time was of the essences there..but I thought he could have handled it differently. We were fed by the respective quilt stores for lunch and supper...and the hotel feed us breakfast....bus mom provided the snacks and drinks. Well worth the dollar spent for the trip.

Still holding to finishing what I have started, so no new projects were purchased on the trip...except for some little wall hanging patterns. Each quilt shop gave us a goody bag as well. Shawee Kansas gave us a Schwan's Ice Cream sandwich for dessert. Bf found the first 'shop' bag for both of us, and I found the second one at another store...only two stores offered the bags...so we were even buying the 'bags' for each of us.

I am assembling the 'cats' of many colors now...have 15 different colors for twenty cats and kittens. Slow progress, working only in the afternoons when my vision is the best.

QNS, The guild I belong to in NC makes quilts for the Wounded Warriors group in that area to auction off to help pay to bring them home for the Holidays....I have a bunch of Patriotic Fabric that can be used for these quilts and was thinking that the Tennessee Waltz pattern would be an easy one to do with using w/w/stars would be ok...what do you think??? what size blocks to use?? 9" or 12"???
