It was a wonderful; new shop owned by a young lady who knows her quilting. She is a Gammill Long Arm trained Representative at Green City, Mo., on highway 63 called her shop: wildflower quilt shop, www.wildflowerquilting.com A Beautiful long arm comouterized quilter with examples in her store, well stocked and good prices...fabric, notions, quilting thread, etc. Does great work free handed or commercialized patterns or her own designs. If I were to take lessons, I go sign up with her. She will be in Houston at the International Show again this year. Whe has a Bernina commercial/industrial bindery machine in the back part. She has my stamp of approval and highest rating for a quilt shop. Just WOW. I did not buy any fabric....wooden nickels were not accepted anywhere. LOL!

Picked up chickfeed, delivered the eggs, and bought some more freestone large peaches at ninety-eight cents a pound. Walked into Casey's and they were stocking the shelves and let me have the small card boxes to ship my Christmas stuff in...right place at the right time....wow!! PW was a wonderful driver and I truly enjoyed her company today. She got her fabric at the new shop and promised to show me her top she makes out of it.

Canned 22 pints of peaches and 21 pints of apples today. Gala Apple tree is still full of fruit, so next week we will do more apples. Running out of canning supplies and miles to go next week. Tomorrow is a day of rest. May everyone have a good Sunday...

Honchey, how was the family reunion?

Picked the last of the tomatoes last night--green ones too. We had frost last night. Got this flimsy finished--now to add the borders. GD (Em) has claimed it. She wants a flannel backing to keep her toasty warm.

Just got home about 1/2 hour ago and I'm very tired...It was a long day but a good one...My goodness there was so much food we're not going to call it a reunion anymore ...we're going to call it a Family Food Fest....There was Home made pierogi, kielbasa & sauerkraut, chicken francaise, chicken marsala, Lasagna, baked ziti, Chili dogs, barbequed ribs, several different pasta salads, antipasti with soppresetta, assorted cheeses roasted peppers, Fois Gras, duck pate..Tapioca pudding, cookies, fruit salad, pumpkin pie, pumpkin bars w/creamcheese frosting, Birthday Cake for my oldest cousin that turned 81 last week..crumbcake, pistachio/coconut pie, brownies, and the best of all for desserts Candy Apples...they were soooooo good...I haven't had a real good one in about 30 years,,, all sort of beverages but the best was the homemade sangria....All in all it was great..The rain held off until we all ate then we had to go inside for the dessert...Can you imagine 65 people in a small house??? It didn't seem crowded at all ...we were spread out in 4 adjoining rooms. Most of us went home with Doggie bags...now I don't have to wonder about what I'm making for Dunch tomorrow...it's going to be a buffet!!!

It's too early for bed but I'm going to get my jammies on & get comfy..It's only 58* outside so it's going to be good sleeping tonite..it is a little chilly in the house..I might get my electric heater out to warm my feet :)...so it time for me to sign off for the night...H.

Ok, I love the quilt.. what size are the squares you used?..The layout is so different...

I think you have some good cooks in your family with all the homemade goodies.

Thanks on the quilt. Squares and sashings are all 2" cut. Here's the link to the original pattern. This one is a 5 x 5 set; I made my 4 x 4 and with 6" finished borders it will be 85 x 85

Good morning. No frost here yet but cool and foggy. I love the weather this time of year.

QNS, sounds like you had a lovely time at the new LQS and it was a nice break for you from all the canning you've done. Sounds like you're ready for a long winter.

OK, love that quilt. Didn't it feel HUGE to you after working on so many small quilts? And DGD is right--flannel would be the perfect backing for snuggling.

Anne, I gained 5 pounds just reading your post!! Darn everything sounded so good. MrJanRn was away all week so I started a strict diet; got to get at least 20 pounds off. If I see one more Lean Cuisine dinner I swear I'll scream. Anxious to go to work tomorrow to get on the scale. (Like one week of sensible eating can make up for all the bad stuff I've been doing LOL.)

Happy birthday to GGal; missing her on here.

So nice to hear about the reunion, Honchey. I am not too familiar with the names of foods but they all sounded good the way you mentioned each one. I was raised by a German-Dutch grandmother (foster) and Father was Irish and Mother a American mix of Native Indian and French.

OK, that quilt is wonderful....and I agree with your GD, flannel would be a perfect backing to snuggle into. No frost here yet, tomatoes are still grown and ripening so still canning a few along and gifting sliced tomatoes to those who did not grow tomatoes. And gifting apples, etc., thanking the Big Guy above for all the bounty of Harvest.

Good luck, JanRN, on your diet. Every time I say 'diet' it seems I gain another five pounds or ten. I have cut my sugars way down...no more munchies of small candy bars , etc., so wonder what the scales will say on the 22nd of September in our wellness check up. And I am drinking water instead of Cherry Coke Cola. Every time I go to get up from sitting in my chair I think, "you old fool, if you didn't eat so much, you would not be putting this much weight on your old tired knees!!! " Love good food, and good company.

GardenGal assures me on face book, that she 'lurks' on this site from time to time . So Happy Birthdaiy, GG. May it be so delightful, that memories will linger throughout the year.

Celebrate the day of rest; have a good week.
