The FWS Pony Club week 18 Flying Clouds & Friendship Star Discussion Page

Hi Y'all, Sorry to say I haven't been able to get to the sewing machine or cutting mat....I am dealing with a family crisis and I just can't get my mind wrapped around the blocks right now. Hopefully the next couple of weeks will get better...I will be posting the threads every week ...I hope you'll understand that I just can't participate right now other than that. Honchey

QuiltingNinaSue 05-08-2012 12:58 PM

Thank you, Honchey, for posting the PC threads for us. Life does get to each of us at times. I am sure all of us had our share of burdens we carry with us daily. One day at a time. Hope you do have a few minutes to enjoy our banter and 'eye' candy even if you cannot get to your sewing machine right now. Escape to our virtual RV, and rest a bit.

I am guilty of starting more UFOs...maybe even finish some. Eleanor Burns Stars and Crosses with nine blocks makes a queen/king quilt...each block is about 22 inches square has been calling my name. New ducks, turkeys and some to be some chickens are keeping me busy.

gardnergal970 05-08-2012 02:08 PM

Honchey...so sorry for the family crisis. Hope it all works out soon. Thanks for posting the links.

mirabelle 05-08-2012 05:03 PM

Honchey I hope you aren't too stressed, remember to take some time for yourself, and pop in for some eye candy.

QuiltE 05-08-2012 05:48 PM

{{{{{HUGS}}}}} to you Honchey!
So sorry that the sun isn't shining the best for you right now.
I'll be thinking of you ... and hope you'll drop on by once in awhile to catch up ... and perhaps let some of the group's work brighten your times!!!

JeanieG 05-08-2012 06:47 PM

More HUGS from me too! Hang in there!

janRN 05-09-2012 04:44 AM

Anne, thanks for taking the time to post the threads. Everyone here is ready and willing to "sit a spell" with you and help you weather this crisis. Take some time for yourself, pop in to look at some eye candy and you'll feel all of us with you.

QuiltE 05-09-2012 04:50 AM

<<<<<<<<<<<Runs in with a siggy quilt for Honchey
<<<<<<<<<<<tucks it around Honchey
(We all sat up late stitching together fabnric from our PC quilt and signed our names)
Runs back out>>>>>>>>>>>

Cookie LM 05-09-2012 05:49 AM

Honchey, know what you mean about things going on in the family. I am behind in my blocks have some done but not squared, Others not even started. hope to get back on the trail again. My great grandbaby was sick for two weeks then wouldn't you know it I got sick too. On and off for 3 weeks just now feeling like maybe I can sew. Hold your head up we are all here wishing you well. Keeping you in our prayers.

wendiq 05-09-2012 06:23 AM

I want you to know that I, too, am sending you good vibes and wishes to be back, peacefully, soon. While our quilting is important and has it's place in our lives, it cannot be first......people and "life" at times, takes over......be well, safe and I hope your "crisis" is over soon.....

oksewglad 05-09-2012 08:04 AM

Life happens; it can be sickness, accidents, good weather to work outside, family gatherings, extra work loads, whatever. To all who have stumbling blocks right now, "Peace" and enjoy from the sidelines.

dublb 05-10-2012 07:13 PM

Honchey - Are things any better??? My prayers are with ya?

mirabelle 05-10-2012 09:41 PM

Even better ... I'll meet YOU and coming bearing gifts!!
You can land in Toronto, Hamilton, London or Waterloo airports. All close enough for me.

Anyone else game for the meet up? :

My chicks are here or coming in this weekend..

Sorry I didn't see your wave. Wished I had known you were so close. Which highway were you on?

I was at a threads class yesterday and finally have a better idea how to adjust the tension on my machine. It's always been a mystery. Plus I was able to use every fancy thread imaginable and have signed up for an applique class in July. New horizons to look forward to while I practice FMQ! Some of the ladies are really getting good. My shop has a retreat center so all if you are invited to join me. Here's the link to their website. http://www.threadsoftimefab.com/

QuiltingNinaSue 05-12-2012 06:25 AM

GarG don't think you were in Mo to go to Ky...North Central Mo just off 136 that goes East & West is where we are..when we went to MI, we went across on Interstate 80. through Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and into South Eastern MI.

Virtual Retreat at Quilt store;mmm, I think I could do that!!

Termi 05-12-2012 07:08 AM

Honchey, so sorry to hear about your family crisis. I hope things get better soon. My thanks to you for posting the PC threads and for all the help you've given me. Hang in there.

CookieLM, I hope your grandbaby is better and that you are too.

GGal ... OMG, your quilt store complete with a retreat centre is amazing!! Looks like you have a dream come true location! I too am fearful of tension issues ... and so hope you will share some of the tips and hints you gather on this subject and thread choices!

Wow such a neat place fro a retreat! Great prices too.

carriem 05-12-2012 06:49 PM

We drove by the Danville exit today on our way home from KY...unfortunately the shop had closed for the day. :(

It would be awesome to have several of us get together for a retreat and work on our blocks. :)

Didn't get to any quilt shops the past couple of days...next year for the national archery tournament we will be staying for more nights so we have more time to do stuff besides archery! My kids weren't too disappointed about "no quilt shops". LOL They said "you get to go see lots of quilt stuff next week anyways"...kids...

carriem 05-12-2012 07:37 PM

Bev---it will be "new" quilt stuff...I am going to Market in KS next week with the shop owner I work for. :)

oksewglad 05-12-2012 08:46 PM

Well somewhere in central Indiana is an Interstate that goes from West to East and Covington is just to the north of it. I saw the city exit and waved, sorry you weren't home. Watch for me tomorrow sometime late in the afternoon. Today DD and I explored Lexington. In downtown, there's a lovely art gallery with several artists having studios in the upper floor. Varied styles, varied mediums, just a joy to look at. Particularly taken with a M McDonald. Lovely water colors and acrylics . Picked up a set of notecards of her watercolor barns. We did a bit of shopping, too. It's been ages since the 2 of us have had a shopping spree. Fun to watch DD spending her money and not mine!!! On our way back to hotel, she's the one that saw the Quilt Shop!! and turned around for me. The shop had just moved into a new location and it was grand opening, so got fabric 20% off as well. I'm making a Christmas wall hanging for my niece and found some fabrics to go with the ones I have already chosen. Yes I had brought my fabrics with me! We had to hustle to get to the wedding! But what fun we had today--wonderful Mother's Day gift from my only DD.

It still would have been fun ta stop. You'll have fun next week also. Be sure & tell us all about it.

The idea of a retreat got me all excited. So I looked up google maps & says it would be an 18 hour straight drive. My back would never make it that long in a car, :( It would have been fun though.

dublb 05-12-2012 09:22 PM

OK it sounds like ya had a great time. I miss my DD so very much. FL is a long way away.

gardnergal970 05-13-2012 05:11 AM

Dubib...Texas is such a large state. I'm planning to go to Round Rock just north of Austin in a couple of weeks and considered driving but that was 12 hours and I couldn't do it in one day so I'm flying. I'll have to mail my grandson's quilt because I'm hoping to not have to check any luggage althought that may be less expensive than mailing.

QuiltE.....horray for FWQ binding!!! Nice to get such a work of art finished!

Carrie, Oksewglad...now you know where I live and can find the best LQS/retreat center around. Thanks for thinking of me and waving.

QuiltE 05-13-2012 05:36 AM

OKSGlad ... what a wonderful Mother's Day Get Away for you and DD this wedding has been! Next year, you'll just have to plan it, even without a wedding!!!!! I'm sure the two of you enjoyed your leisurely gallery visit, sans kiddos! And what a wonderful DD to spot the LQS for you to check out and then to be successful too!! Hope all went well at the wedding ... and that perhaps the two of you will find some other things to explore on the way home today. Travel Safely!!!!

You didn't tell us ... did a quilt travel with you, to gift the bride and groom?

GGal ... Oh yes, I'm excited ... just a tad!! :) Bet you and others can't tell and can't believe it though!!!!! :D
