Always wished I could draw like Wesley Dennis. Have oil painted colts similar to his way of drawing when I was in junior college, and a very kind English teacher bought the pictures at our local saddlery shop we had back then. And I also made a young six-year-old to be a "horse quilt" for her birthday in Texas. When I asked the stupid question of how many horses do you want on the quilt? she quickly replied six. So I drew and put six horses in the center of her quilt...all in her "Pink" corral.

QuiltingNinaSue, Nice mix of fabrics in your county fair. Great fussy cutting of the cowboy hats!! I like the red horseshoe and stars fabric. Love your children's delight!!! The gorgeous horse in the middle reminds me of "Black Beauty" running free. I read that book when I was a kid. The center stands out so nicely and all the fabric in CD go so well together. Great job on both!! I too loved the "Black Stallion"

Actually, I think, FryGuy had the same black horse in his earlier block when he told us of his ailing aging black horse. I do hope his horse is better now, or maybe he found an land-grant ag college near him where they train Vets and maybe fix up his horse at a more reasonable rate...although I know Vet training is not done everywhere across the land. If I had the money in my youth, I might have tried going that route as a career...but now think I would have cried over the animals that I could not have helped..much too emotional about things, maybe that comes with true love of animals and kids or just being a woman. Nice to have a partner, dh, to balance me and to be there for me when I need him to be at my side.
