Here are my first 50 in both the 3" and 4".(actually a couple of extra for the mistake ones) added them anyways.
On the 3 " ones please let me know which you like for possible sashings? I'm starting to wonder on both the 3" and 4" either going with like a tye dyed muslin (for sashing)I just can't decide. Maybe Black? eekkkkkk.....I don't know......White?
The 4" one I still think the blocks are way to dark so the next 25 blocks will do a lot of white background.(Maybe I will like it then)

I do have closer up pictures of the different colored sashings if that will help.Wasn't sure whether I should add them here or not.

They are beautiful! Love the purples!
I think I want to start over...

grannyQ 01-19-2011 09:03 AM

Judy, I really like your also. I don't think I really could do all 3 & 4 in blocks. Yours are really beautiful. Thank's for your compliments.

Belles.hold 01-19-2011 09:07 AM

GrannyQ and JAGSD, your 50 are stunning, sensational and stricking! I've only finished 32, but seeing your lovely, lively and lucious 50, I know I'll forge ahead! Good job ladies. Belles

sew cornie 01-19-2011 09:35 AM

JAGSD, thanks for showing your collections. They're beautiful! For the 30s sashing options you've shown, I think the blue sets off the blocks better than the other colors.

sew cornie 01-19-2011 09:36 AM

grannyQ, it's not always easy to pull off a monotone quilt. Yours is spectacular! Great job balancing values. Thanks for sharing!

janRN 01-19-2011 09:41 AM

OMG I'm on the floor!! You guys have knocked me out LOL!! Those are beautiful-I can't believe how nice they look. I love the purple tones-gorgeous. And the scrappies are fantastic. I can't decide which sashing I like-each one gives a different interpretation to the blocks. Wow!! I am so impressed and excited to see these. You are so inspriational!!

I think the blue fabric makes the blocks "pop"! Love it!

Honchey 01-19-2011 01:10 PM

Hi, The blue gives the blocks more definition while the peachy coral makes the blocks blend into each other. I like the blue better. GrannyQ--I'm speechless !! Your Quilt would win the grand prize--Best in show!! Blue Ribbons all around.

pookie ookie 01-19-2011 01:45 PM

I prefer the peach but I get why others like the blue. I've just never been a fan of it.

Cool blocks, everyone!

I won't get around to this for a while. I'm playing nursemaid to a person and a dog. I also put my cutting table in front of my design wall making the wall difficult to reach. Just call me Einstein.

mirabelle 01-19-2011 08:22 PM

WOW they are all so beautiful, I am off so the sewing room to finish my next two and then post pics. Tried to get ahead this week but it just didn't happen

Wow! Beautiful! What about pale yellow sashing? I see though, it looks like you have some sashing up there already... I wonder if you gradiate the shades from light to dark, starting in the upper left hand corner, going down to the lower right, getting darker? At any rate, your blocks collection is gorgeous!!!

I second that! Your collection looks beautiful!

pookie ookie 01-20-2011 10:14 PM

Looking at auntjo's, I see that a block I chose not to make looks wonderful. This thread is educational. Thanks!

Here are my first 50, sob sob I don't have a design wall so they are laid out on the floor. I can't decide on what colour sashing, maybe I need to rehearse a couple of different colour ways.
Hope you like them.
It is amazing how different everyones blocks look

mirabelle,
Beautiful! your colors go together so well.

janRN 01-21-2011 05:34 AM

Mirabelle I love your blocks-nice mix of colors. Pookie is right-this site has taught me so much, esp about scrappy. Great job!

Quilting Nonnie 01-21-2011 06:44 AM

AMAZING!!! Ladies, I'm speechless! Absolutely gorgeous layouts. Good for you; I need a thesaurus, but I am in awe.

Jagsd, Awww, your blocks are wonderful. Both sets look so cohesive and are a knock-out.
I think I'd go with the med blue background then maybe a darker cornerstone.
Your scrappy doesn't look dark to me; it looks balanced. I think that maybe a rich, chocolate brown sashing? Look at Laurie's sashing on her quilt.

Granny Q, each week I fall in love all over with your purple blocks, but wow! as a group... You are a master, the way you can pull tones and shades together is amazing.

Aunt Jo, gorgeous! Each block are all so different, yet when they're laid out they harmonize so nicely!

Mirabelle...you and me without design walls. Let's have a pity party  Waaahhh! Your colors flow so nicely...what a lovely job. Where's that darn thesaurus? You have done a wonderful job with your blocks.

Oh how beautiful Mirabelle! This group really helped me choose the sashing and cornerstones. Just lay some out and snap a couple photos! I'm making a lap quilt out of the first 55. Then I am switching fabric to make another lap quilt out of the rest for our motorhome.

rwquilts 01-21-2011 08:28 AM

Oh my goodness! Ladies, these blocks are absolutely stunning! I'm blown away by all the beauties!

Looking good, y'all!

Here are my first 50. I re-did 3 but have 2 more that I dislike enough to re-do them, eventually.

Weezie,

Your blocks look wonderful! The colors go very well together. Congratulations!

grannyQ 01-21-2011 01:43 PM

I really like all of the 1st 50 blocks.
It looks like everyone has a style of their own and no two look alike. Just amazing what everyone can do with the same block. Keep them coming.
Thank you everyone for your lovely comments on my purples. I have had a great time trying to decide what fabric to put in each block. Try not to duplicate too much.

Thank you very much. When I look at them all together, the 2 that I'm going to re-do just jump right out at me. It makes my fingers itch to toss them away.

What I like about putting up all 50 at once (and this is the first time I've done it), it gives us a chance to see clearly what colors we need more or less of.

JAGSD 01-21-2011 02:40 PM

Weezie,
Your blocks look Beautiful!

sew cornie 01-21-2011 02:43 PM

Sorry, weezie, but I'm not seeing any that don't belong. Your collection is beautiful. :-D

oksewglad 01-21-2011 05:20 PM

You ladies are doing such a spectacular job; the sewing is so precise, the color decisions are amazing. I can not wait until I get to this point! Kudos to you all.

mirabelle 01-21-2011 08:35 PM

Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement. This group certainly rocks in my world. My DD will be home for holidays in 6 weeks, I have already told her that she has the job of picking my sashings, she has THE knack for putting fabrics together

Here are my 1st 50 blocks: one set on dark background one set on light. Preference yet? I can't decide. Please ignore dog-not included in quilt LOL.
Need more red? Suggestions and critique welcomed.

grannyQ 01-22-2011 10:12 AM

I like the blocks on the light back ground. love your dog too.
Beautiful colors in all of your blocks.

Quilting Nonnie 01-22-2011 10:22 AM

Jan, Your blocks are so pretty! I'm thinking the blue background. I like a darker color. How about forest green?

I think the reds are very much holding their own. It doesn't seem you need to work to add more, just in the same amount as now.

Congratulations on your first 50!

Very pretty blocks, Jan. I like the dark much better than the light background; many of your blocks blend right into the light background in the photo.

I have my background fabrics, but have not yet set any blocks on it to see how they'll look. I might get a horrible shock when I do.
