Just printed the pattern...had a really hard time getting the scale accurate (or close).

I printed mine at - center block (courthouse steps) printed at 100%, side triangle at 75%, and corner square and side triangles at 75%. When I hold them up to the light it looks like they will fit together ok.

Mine printed at 103%, 110% and 120%...after about a dozen attempts. Don't understand why its so difficult.

In spite of having massive computer problems, my patterns printed great. Can't wait to get started. Love this new Star.

quiltinghere 06-16-2011 02:59 PM

WOW over 900 views and only 4 or 5 posts in the last 24 hours.

I guess everyone is waiting for us to post a block! :)

Well here she is June Star. I started out with multiple colors but went back and just used two made a more dramatic look.

good luck I had to make the center pp 110% to get it to equal 1".

Although this block was a lot of fun, I don't think it adapted very well to my BOM color theme.

Michelle and Mona Lisa, I love both of your stars. I'm not sure why you don't think it works with your colors, Mona Lisa. I think it's beautiful.

kristen0112 06-16-2011 08:34 PM

Both your stars are darling!

marymc 06-17-2011 03:25 AM

Oooh, pretty. Both of them! It's such a crisp, striking look.

Crlyn 06-17-2011 02:11 PM

There both lovely, well done!

I've printed my pattern, trying to decide on colours now!

Matilda 06-17-2011 09:05 PM

WOW are those ever neat!! Great job!

mstandridge 06-18-2011 06:49 AM

come on where are your block I thought there would be more that just 2 by now. It is a very easy PP once you get the scale factor worked out.

mona lisa 2011 I think your colors look great together. put them all together and stand back and look at them you will be amazed to see the beauty of them combined. a pic showing us would be nice also. hint hint

JeanieG 06-18-2011 09:58 AM

I am having an awful time getting the 2nd & 3rd page of the pattern to print out correctly. Maybe someone else is having the same problem??? Any suggestions would be helpful.

fred singer 06-18-2011 04:34 PM

wow those are very stricking patterns very impressing.

sewhat540 06-19-2011 04:50 AM

I've decided to post my star, although I'm not happy with how it turned out. I should have reversed the colors because my points don't stand out. I didn't realize this until I assembled the block.

Hi Sufergirl. I was wondering if you could release the seams just past the tan points and replace them with blue points. They would be bigger points than the pattern but that would be OK. Or....maybe outline the tan point with blue thread. It wouldn't take much because the eye wants to finish it anyway. Thanks for going early in the star month.

cherylmae 06-19-2011 08:07 PM

Mine is going to be the same way, now that you pointed that out. Hum!

Thanks Whitepine...I think I'll try to change the points. I hadn't thought of doing this, but it might work.

I wanted to use 2 colors for my star and I wanted the center to be dark blue and the rest to be dark yellow, not thinking the points would turn out like they did. I thought others might benefit from my error. I'm rather new to quilting and have a lot to learn.

I too lost my points. I don't know why I did not think to make the background in the blue to have contrast at the points. Oh well, I always make two versions. The second block I went more subtle in the stripes with a contrasting background. This was a fun star to make, thanks for suggesting it!

why can't you just rip the points out and add another blue stripe at the end the same width as the rest of the stripes?

If you look at the picture in the directions, that's the way it's put together.

I changed and put the light where the dark is and dark where the light is.

I'm glad I made ONE block - I could not see myself making a whole quilt with this block. To the quilter that does....I bow in awe!!!

Here are 2 pictures. The yellow is bright and the wrinkles are from too much spray starch...which I'm sure will quilt out.

Another pretty star!

quiltinghere, if you iron your block with a steam iron it should take those wrinkles out after starching!

I thought I would try another approach but I'm not happy with the way it turned out. I really didn't have the right colors to make the shift from blue to yellow. Also, it doesn't go very well with the other blocks. But I thought I'd post it for the idea. I'm going to try again with different colors.

Just put a yellow center in your friendship block. Should be easy to take apart to do.
I love your color combo............

I love this variation! I was going to try something like this but did not have colors that worked.
