Greetings!!!! Yes, I'm ready!!!!! Fabric is picked for this one and alternatives are also just a pick away. Can't wait - do we know what time Judy will be posting???

Sunliten, we were just talking about extra fabrics!!!! But I too got some in the mail that I ordered. I need to get sewing on some projects, I guess. Did you see some good Black and Whites? Although now I am looking for animal and Christmas. Never ending.

THE GOOD NEWS!!!! Mom will be going to the memory unit. She qualifies to stay there. Goodness, I was scared this morning about her maybe having to go somewhere else or maybe me just staying home and not going to CA. But we went out there today. She seemed to like it and the lady who does hair was there and she got a haircut. All is good in her world.

Jen, a row!!! I have seeds that are ready to plant but I think a couple hills of zuccini will do. We love it also. I fry with a little butter, onion and maybe throw in a chopped tomato. WOW - wonder what's for supper. But I'm going to plant some winter squash and pumpkin also this year. I can't wait to get out there and drop those seeds. I envy your garden that is up already.

irishrose 05-23-2012 04:47 PM

72 hours?? Less now. That means I need to put a border on my last mystery and get it finished. The first border is too wide, so it's back to the drawing board.

I've cooked my rhubarb, but haven't made the tea yet. I did make rhubarb muffins with a cinnamon struesel filling and topping this morning. They smelled very good. Neither flavor overpowered the other. Muffins, anyone??

Read about this mystery train quilt and thought was good idea, so gonna try with u guys, unfortunately I won't be able to give out recipes. My cooking skills are really bad, most is unedible, I even have blow up eggs. But your recipes sound great. Now off to my sewing room to try and find material that would work together. Called my best friend about it forgetting she is on here everyday, she was already signed up that will make it double the amount if fun

SunlitenSmiles 05-24-2012 05:29 AM

49 hours from now ( more or less )

breath deep
oil the sewing machine
clear stuff off the cutting table
clean the bottom of the iron

Ready

You do not have to worry about your cooking skills. There is more than enough food and fun served on this Mystery Train to go around. I still have not chosen my fabrics yet, but that is part of the fun, the big dash to board the train at the last minute.

Pam H 05-24-2012 06:03 AM

I took a deep breath. Do I really have to do the other things? LOL

Everose 05-24-2012 06:13 AM

Pam H, I'm with you, breath deep. But the others??????? I do need a new ironing board cover. I was "pressing" and had a fabric with Wonder Under on it. Bad news. Hubby hates it when I do that as he does his own ironing when he needs a "dressy shirt". So I will get a new one today.

kat2060 - welcome. We really do have a good time on this train. Thank goodness it has all the extras we need, like the exercise room. Don't worry about the cooking - we are on an adventure so we get to eat out a lot. But wine and snacks are always welcome.

Darn, I just saw a big rabbit in the back yard. Haven't seen one for months and months. He knows I planted the peas last night. Now I'm going to have to guard my plants again.

Well on to sewing and cleaning. Sunliten, does 2 out of 4 count?

SunlitenSmiles 05-24-2012 06:23 AM

Absolutly...that was my check list.....and now (dang) you reminded me about the condition of my ironingboard cover it is threadbare in so many spots it may self distruct at any time...no wonder under to hold this one together.... ok so guess that is what i will make first today.

One of the best things about the food on this train, Kat, no calories

irishrose 05-24-2012 07:28 AM

Di. I have an ironing table separate from my ironing board. I found I was transferring little starched threads and such to my clothes so I made a rectangular table for my quilting ironing. It works better for quilty things because it is wider and has no shaped end.

The train is standing waiting for us. Are we ready? I had better wash my fabrics today and set up the 15. The 301 is busy FMQ.

I made my rhubarb tea a lazy way. Mixed the boiled rhubarb and water with Arizona tea with honey in it. Still quite sweet, but very tasty. Off to pack my suitcase. I assume the dress is casual. See you soon!

paintmejudy 05-24-2012 11:12 AM

Oh my goodness, look at all the chatter! So glad you guys have been having fun. Yes, I ended up in Europe, in the Baltic sea/Scandanavian region, 7 countries, one city each plus two full days in St. Petersburg, Russia. I'm exhausted, but wanted to see how you all were doing. I got an email from a dear friend who is doing this mystery, told me everyone had gained 10 pounds while I was gone!

Welcome to all the new riders, so glad you have joined our mystery. Now I'll try to answer your questions, hope I didn't miss any. Naturally, being on a ship with 3,000 people coughing and sneezing, I caught something, and think I have bronchitis, will be sure by tomorrow, but it has all the signs! But clue 2 is ready to go on Saturday morning, sick or not! Written and proof- read befor I left.

Coopah - I think you will be fine with the yellow as C but might change your mind after seeing step 2.

JanTX - great fabrics. Second pix using the first three from left to right as ABC and one of the little brown prints for E would get my vote. Your other pink would be perfect for D.

Welcome to all of you new gals - you're gonna have a blast!

Everose - I agreee with the comment about the trees - you'll lose the design if the trees are big.

Dotty - beautiful colors. If I had to choose, I'd use the dark background floral with the from left to right in the pix, the 2nd and 3rd for ABC, and dark brown for E sashing. But use the light background floral for C if you want a lighter overall quilt.

urgodschild - great fabrics. I'd use the dark blue for E sahing and maybe the first three from left to right for ABC

Cindy - those are lovely choices

PamH - very pretty! Since you have a bit of yellow in the blue daisy, I'd use the first three from left to right an ABC the yellow as D and pink as sahing. My choise, IMHO, would be not to use the while.

So, I will check back later this afternoon and see if I answered all your questions. I need a nap and some cough medicine.

Everose 05-24-2012 01:52 PM

Oh good, Judy's back!!!! Hope you are feeling better soon. This is the worst time of year to catch something. Hope you had a great time. I will have to re-think fabric. We won't need the sashing fabrics for awhile, will we?

Irish, DH made me a cutting/pressing table a couple years ago. But when the sewing room moved downstairs - it did also. The ironing board that is upstairs is the one he usually uses for his ironing (I press - HA HA). So I agree with you - the other one works much better. But I got a pretty new cover and pad for the one he uses and I will try and keep it clean for awhile. Talked to DD today, she's not coming home this weekend, so I don't have to clean the dining room table off yet.

kat2060 05-24-2012 01:56 PM

Thanks for the warm welcome and the acceptance to mt non cooking skills. Will be more than happy to supply wine and snacks. Still going threw the fabrics waiting for "ah yes that's it". Thanks again

paintmejudy 05-24-2012 02:38 PM

Everose, you have a while to rethink your sashing fabric. And yes, had a great time, thank you! And I'm glad to be back.

coopah 05-24-2012 03:07 PM

Welcome back, Judy, and hope you soon get over whatever crud you have. Thanks for looking at all the fabrics so quickly. Is your head just spinning with it all? I think I'll ditch the yellow fn orange that came with that grouping. Thanks for the feedback. See you on the train Saturday AM.

PokerDiva 05-24-2012 03:30 PM

Welcome back Judy. I need clarification please. Or should I wait till Sat? If you can't answer me now I can wait but here is my question. You may have already told me this but you know how my memory is.....Which letter is the background and is A and B suppose to have the most contrast besides the background? I hope that made sense.

That's a good question. One of mine is printed with a small print and one is just white stars on aqua, so I need to know, too.

More rhubarb tea after gardening. Very refreshing.
Judy (yeah, another one)

paintmejudy 05-24-2012 04:37 PM

Since you need the same yardage for A B and C, I think I'm going to wait until Saturday when all will be revealed. But the first posting did say something about nice contrast between A and B, and C is somtthing that will go with A and B. :o

Just finished picking my fabric, what do you ladies think of this? If it's to blah I can go looking for some colors :) lol I might end up doing two if the bug really bites me! The second picture should be two other fabrics that could possibly make it in the mix if they would work better.

Pam H 05-24-2012 05:31 PM

babyfire, I LOVE your fabrics!!

conniety 05-24-2012 07:14 PM

Happy to catch up on my emails n saw the posting for the new mystery train. When I get home from Canada then check out my stash.

For all you people who have planted your gardens I would like to show you what I woke up to this morning.

Had to use my old camera because my batteries were dead so the pic posted weird. Just click on it and it will enlarge.

SheriR 05-25-2012 06:04 AM

OHHHH snow!!! Wish I were there it will be HOT in Texas this weekend.

Cindy60545 05-25-2012 06:27 AM

oh no! That nasty 4 letter word...snow! Isn't a little late for this? We're going to be in the 90's this weekend here in Texas. Just the beginnings of our summer! I'm NOT looking forward to our 100's!!

urgodschild2 05-25-2012 07:58 AM

Wow snow in Oregon. CA is just below you and I am in sunny? southern Cal. But the last two days have been gray.

SunlitenSmiles 05-25-2012 08:05 AM

rain here

just watched the Dragon being pulled into the space station.......really wonderful....loved the quote when the robotic arm attached "caught the dragon by the tail" so I am on a search for the fabric that we thought looked like scales and some people used it in the last mystery....I found the purple/periwinkle one but am sorting the entire stash(really needed to do this anyway)to find the green one.
Waiting for July, when 'curiosity' lands on Mars......the husband of one of my quilting buddies is involved with that project.

this time tomarrow we will have our 'clue' I am ready, new ironing board cover

urgodschild2 05-25-2012 08:06 AM

Welcome back Judy. I hope you get over what ever you got from the cruise. Thank you for your input on my material. I really needed that. I am so excited to get going on this. My first mystery train. Hurry tomorrow.

Yup, got my VBFWWW interested in this mystery train. It's a good thing too. My DSL modem died yesterday and they said it would be several DAYS before we get the new one. No, we can't pick it up. No, we can't pay for it to be overnighted! So Kat2060 will be calling me with the clue on Saturday a.m. ... unless PaintMeJudy wants to secretly e-mail it to my work computer this afternoon!!!! LOL! Seriously, how can I live through a three day weekend without the internet?????

Hope they get it fixed soon! We're going to be camping all weekend so I won't be able to read the clue until Monday night!!! The only thing that helps is my hexies are going with me to work on, well that and the most adorable 6 year old camping fanatic :)

marytoddliz 05-25-2012 12:02 PM

Thanks ladies for all your prayers and hugs, I made a nice wall hanging with Our "Puppy's" picture. He was really a sweet dog. His name was Seymore, and nothing like making a memory quilt to make you feel better.

Welcome Back Judy, glad you had a great trip.

This weekend was supposed to be a beautiful weekend, the whole Mt top has a yard sale... well most do, for the 3 day weekend, but with the lousy weather it is going to be a better sewing day then scavenging day!

I am excitedly waiting for next clue tomorrow~

I have not decided which to place where yet~ any suggestions?

PokerDiva 05-25-2012 12:31 PM

I wish I could help you Marybeth but I am still in a quandry about mine.

Foxflower 05-25-2012 12:43 PM

Pokerdiva, we got snow too this morning. It probably traveled on south. It didn't stick down here (except a little higher up on the mountatins.) The flakes were quarter size. Now it's partly sunny but still not warm.

For all you dragon theme aficionados, there are a couple fabric lines I saw recently that have very scaley type fabrics. I happened to come across them at hancocks of paducah (online and catalog). One line is Salt Air Fish Scale, which appears to come in 5 colors. Cosmo Cricket is the designer name. The second line is Egyptian Legacy Fan Bargello and comes in at least 3 colors. And finally, for the very patriotic dragon.....Peoples House American Bargello. www.hancocks-paducah.com

PokerDiva 05-25-2012 12:50 PM

Well, my snow has all melted and that is a good thing because now it is pouring down rain and the wind is blowing like crazy. If it was still snow I would have to swear it was January.

coopah 05-25-2012 04:45 PM

Poker Diva, My husband is from Salem and is wondering if this is in central OR or ????

SunlitenSmiles 05-25-2012 05:21 PM

*

12 or 14 more hours....something like that......have switched fabrics around so many times today, no clue right now which to settle on so they are all pressed and ready.....I truly believe the clue tomarrow will bring me a fabric revelation.......or not.........I think it is time to sleep...night, night !

PokerDiva 05-25-2012 05:31 PM

I am in Klamath Falls. I am sure he knows where that is. It is in southern central Oregon about twenty some odd miles from the California border. Our elevation is about 4200 ft which explains the crazy weather. We are hoping to put our house up for sale soon and move up toward Salem. The Willamette Valley has much more sane weather.

Foxflower 05-25-2012 06:40 PM

Aw man PokerDiva, you are trying to leave us? There are so few of us down here on the edge of nowhere. Weather should be better tomorrow

KarenR 05-25-2012 06:40 PM

Is there any way to keep this post on top. Found the train one and it was the one from before.

What time is she posting the clue.

irishrose 05-25-2012 06:50 PM

Foxflower, that's a dangerous link. I want the pink lemonade in the Tonga batiks.

Come on, Saturday. The train is building up steam.

Foxflower 05-25-2012 07:52 PM

Irishrose....those are on sale! I wanted a set too but haven't given in yet. Yes, hancocks-paducah is very dangerous. I love their catalog....pages and pages of fabric pictures to browse through. It's almost like a virtual stash. They also show quilts and I find patterns in there I like.
