new mystery quilt will begin on Oct. 13th
1 Attachment(s)
Once again, you are invited to join another MYSTERY QUILT TRAIN RIDE, a quilt of my design. There will be a new posting, in the Blocks of the Week and Month section, on Saturday with the fabric requirements, and then I will NOT be posting on this thread after the mystery starts.
We have had a blast on earlier mystery quilt trains, and I know a lot of returning passengers will be climbing on board. But everyone is welcome, new and returning passengers, from confident beginner to experienced quilters. Nothing terribly difficult, nothing you've never seen before, but probably never seen as this mystery will put your fabric together. I will check in here for the next few days to see if there are any questions from new riders. If you've never done a mystery quilt, please check us out. It really is fun. Think of it as walking up to an airline clerk and asking for a ticket on the next available flight. You have a bag packed with an assortment of shorts and tee shirts as well as jeans and a jacket. No matter where you end up, you'll have had an interesting and fun journey with great traveling companions. Hope to see you Saturday morning. |
I would like to try this mystery train ! Is this suitable for a advanced beginner?
|
I would love to join in the "Mystery Quilt Train Ride" I missed out last time but am excited you are starting a new one :)
|
Kim, this will be perfect for you, I always try to make the mysteries work for a confident beginner, someone who calls themselves an advanced beginner will be just fine. So glad you will join me on Saturday.
Frusrated - glad you will join this one. But you can still do the other two, just don't look ahead at the clues. LOL |
You know for sure that I am in though I think I may hide out in the caboose.
|
I hear that the caboose is where all the vintage wine and Godiva chocolates are going to be stored.
|
Sounds like just the place for me and I bet I won't be alone long.
|
No, I know you won't, and I'll bet we can make a list of who will be trying to get in the door.
|
OK, so this intriges me! I have thought it would be fun to "attempt" a mystery quilt. How does this work?
Is there a previous "train" thread I can go back and look at to see? |
I too am intrigued! Can you explain a little how this works for us "newbies"?
|
I would like to give this a try and use up some of my stash which it threatening to overrun more of the house.
I have never done a mystery quilt so not sure how it all works. Do I have to remember to check in someplace for postings or do we get emails to remind us where to find the next step? |
For the newbies wanting to join, all will be answered in the first post on the 13th. Paintmejudy will post a new clue every Saturday for the next step in the construction of the quilt until the end. To stay in touch with the group, just subscribe to the thread & get the immediate email updates. I had never done a mystery quilt til the last one & enjoyed it very much. There's a lot of chit chat back & forth amongst us, no-calorie food exchanged, & a lot of guessing as to what's coming next! To see the first two train rides, go to the section on blocks of the month or week to see what they were like. Warning! There's a lot of posts in both! Come on in to the new one & enjoy the fun!
|
I'm in for another fun trip and bringing my homemade applesauce!!
|
Oh, boy! Judy I so enjoyed the last train ride even though I hid out in the caboose while I cut and sewed along. I am packed and with ticket in hand ready to board this train. What a great way to celebrate my birthday, fabric shopping with DH for new mystery quilt and later, dinner with a pitcher of margaritas. See you all Saturday.
|
I'll be on the train sat AM really enjoyed the last one
|
How do you subscribe to the thread?

I think I would like to give this ride a try. If I get lost surely someone will tow me in?
|
Oh Goody, I can hardly wait for this one to start too!! I really enjoyed the last two Mystery Train Rides & I just know this will be just as much fun. So Judy, count me in again!! Cindy........you had better start thinking about a quilting design for this one too!!
:D :D :D :D |
If you get lost just hold your hand out and someone in the caboose will grab on to it.

I think I'd like to join in this ride too. I am a confident beginner :p See you Saturday.

quilting kay and kboone, here are links to previous mysterys I created - click on the link to take you to see how they work.
To answer the other questions, there will be a new thread posted on Saturday in the BOM section - look for JUDY'S 3RD MYSTERY QUILT TRAIN RIDE. Go there and you will find us, and that is where we will always be. As you can see from the comments, we have a lot of people who have done this train ride before and had a fun time. http://www.quiltingboard.com/blocks-...e-t188477.html http://www.quiltingboard.com/blocks-...e-t180032.html |
Yes, lots of gals reaching out to help you on board and help in any way they can. I know Florence will be there cause she know the wine and chocolate will be stored there.
Florence your new avatar is fantab-u-licious - that's not out of our Carol Doaks from your PP stars, is it? It almost looks like an adapted North Dakota - but it looks like a Doaks.

Oksewnsew, always room in the caboose for you and it will be nice and warm since the cool nights are upon us. Judy that is one of her stars...Iowa.

I've never done a mystery quilt but I am excited about getting the train for a creative ride.
|
I am definately boarding this train. Making Big Soft Ginger cookies for Thanksgiving on Saturday morning (DH's family having it a week late due to work schedules), and will make extras for the caboose.
I am going to use up some of my batiks as I am digging them out for the New York Beauty thread, which I am also starting this weekend. |
woo hoo, not even officially started and already lots of passengers on this ride! So glad to see so many new people.

"If you've never done a mystery quilt, please check us out."
Where? how does one sign up? |
Sounds like fun, never done one before, count me in
|
I have never done a mystery quilt before and would LOVE to jump on this train. My great grandfather was a professional train jumper in the early 1900's. So, I hope I "fit" right in :)
|
I am wanting to get my ticket for the ride.
I love train rides and I love a good mystery. I have done 3 mystery so far and they are fun to do and the end of the trip is such a wonderful surprise. |
