Its even easier if, before you cut off the extra triangles, sew on the line as usual, then move over 1/2 inch and stitch a second diagonal line. Now cut between the stitched lines and your little cut-off triangles are already stitched together into HST. Its faster and easier than working with the little cut off pieces.

How do you make it so perfect. I think mine look pretty good and then take a picture and post it and then see where things don't line up too great. Very nice blocks.

I still have so make-up blocks to do. I received my gib hook for my Featherweight today, so maybe I can work on a new square tonight.

I like the blocks sewn so far. All very nice. I will start cutting my out after I finish a few other projects.

Here is another make-up block, this is one from June, Baton Rouge Square. What a little stinker this was! I had to remake one of the HST's three times! I just did not know what was going on. One of them I was trimming to 2.5" and sliced it at 1.5"! Gremlins, it just had to be gremlins. That makes a dozen blocks so I am getting there.

Those pesky little Gremlins !!!:D

Those gremlins visited me today, too! I was supposed to be making 1-1/2" little 4-patches and when they were done they were 2-1/2"! Fortunately I was able to cut them down! I know those little gremlins do their stuff then hide in the corners laughing as we unravel their input!
Lovely blocks being shown! I'd hate to have to choose a favorite... For an extra block, I'm making "Crazy Anne" from Marcia Hahn's Quilt Blocks Galore. It goes so well with last month's "Midnight Pinwheels." |
I always thought that gremlins only came to bother looms and weavers:-) The elves are much friendlier, they want to help and not be sassy.
I agree that there are just beautiful blocks being made, it really helps to see how other quilters bring colors together. The color interaction is so different from weaving, but just as wonderful and surprising. |
Wowsa! Thanks for that tip!
