Love the colors everyone is using. I bought some gold fabric yesterday. Waiting for it to try so I can catch up.

Caroline S - I just pressed my seams, they all nest together except for where the 4-1/2" and the point pieces met. I just sort of let the 2-layer seam fold and pressed it really good. Mine is all quilted so have nothing to show what I did. I know it isn't the right way but I had didn't think I could get the stuff with the star points not to be pressed in on themselves, it would have made a really bulky seam - this seems like a flatter solution. Anyone else want to say how they pressed? Thanks.

Yeah! Igot the second step done! Being in a weird mood,I took the pieces cut off of the flying geese triangles and stitched them together in rows...gotta be a place for them somewhere! After some on the QB posted about crumb quilts,I thought I'd get a start...If I could figure out to post pics,I would...gotta wait til some kid comes home and shows me. In the meantime off to the club car for a thimbleful of Oregon Pinot Gris. Cheers!

Great looking quilts so far. I've been debating on adding another row of 9 patches. We'll have to see if I want to take the trouble.

I really have a fondness for those blue and whites. They make such beautiful, crisp looking quilts.

I press down and if necessary from the center out but that can warp you fabric ... did you cut the back piece of your flying geese off? keeping only the top layer you folded back? I press to the side. I originally learned to press all seams open then learned it makesastronger quilt to lay themto the side when quilted the seams are "safer"less pulling apart later. works for me so far. not sure if that answers your question but pressing is a very opinionated subject lol there is one school and there is the other school. can't tell you which is the right school. the one that works the best for you I would think :)

love seeing the tops come rolling in. I have to ask as it dawned on me when we dont like a quilt we are making we say Charity quilt yet wouldnt you if you needed charity above being thankful and all that.. wouldnt you want pretty to? I am ashamed to say I was going to give it to charity. That is not how I feel good at all. Big mouth insert foot. I will put it out on a chair here and the first one who says I want that! YOURS! and I will make the next quilt from the Mystery train in colors I like and will be proud to share with charity. i want to make a quilt for the Humane Societys annual auction or the local fire fighters. I will then crow loud and clear for all of you. sorry I had to share that.

Eliza, I think it's okay to give a quilt not to your tastes to charity as long as it isn't something too ugly. We all like different things and some will appreciate the warmth even it isn't perfectly matching. The first quilt I made for Cystic Fibrosis was scrappy and it went for a decent price. The solids were white and purple - not my colors, but must have been someone's. BTW, I like your quilt.

I'm cutting charms down and I'm shocked at the different amounts I've had to trim off. Moda are the only consistent ones in my limited experience.

WOW! The quilts are looking B-E-A-utiful!!!! Completed my Mystery 3 Train ride top on Sunday.... so getting caught up on my scrappy. Just finished sewing the 9 squares together, now to press them and figure out what I am going to do for my A and B fabrics. Hmmmmm..... in the meantime how about some chocolate chip cheesecake!

Had to sew some more 9 patches today, just couldn't leave it small I guess, so now it's 4 across and 5 long. Started cutting strips and sewing on the little geese, but have a long way to go. I'm working on it. Took me a little time to set up another machine for the 1/4" so maybe faster tomorrow. Hope my repair guy calls in the morning, I need the Juki for stitch in the ditch quilting. I just can't do that on the long arm as easy.
You'd be surprised at how many people want a scrappy quilt Elisabrat. I always donate a baby quilt every year for the "New Year Baby" and when people come to the house to pick it out I surprise them and tell the parents that if they'd like one they can take their pick also. I have them on a rack and out of the last 3 years, 2 have chosen scrappy. They say "I'd love this one, it'll go with anything" So for me, it's great to sew at least a couple of them a year.

I made the bigger size but now am wishing it was even bigger. Maybe a couple of extra borders. We'll see.
Anyone else dieting? I just signed up today and weighed in for a weight loss challenge in our community. I left a veggie tray in the club car for anyone else trying to cut back.
