Love the latest blocks posted ... the blues and the red & white. Well done everyone!!!

oksewglad 09-10-2013 10:51 AM

Another pretty block--like Jeanie says stunning in one color.

kwiltkrazy 09-10-2013 11:46 AM

Marne, love your red block. I think the rainbow theme will turn out wonderful.

Ok, block one done. For some reason I have the rainbow song (red and yellow and pink and green....) stuck in my head. So each block is going to focus on a different color. This time was red, next block will be yellow, etc. We will see. It could all go very wrong, very quickly.

Now that block just sings! The red is awesome. :)

deranged_damsel 09-10-2013 02:52 PM

LOVE the Red block!!! oooohh so pretty :D :D :D

mirabelle 09-10-2013 03:15 PM

Another beautiful block, mmm rainbow quilt sounds delicious. What a parade of quilts we are going to have next year.

NinaSue I sent you an e-mail, hope you get it..

WOW!!! All I can say is these blocks are gorgeous. I started mine today and only got one of the six sections done but I took a photo using the folding mirror and it worked....

I haven't been able to sew very much due to a knee that has been giving me problems for several years now and it's hard for me to get around.
I'm dreading what the DR is going to tell me... sooo knowing what the future holds for me I'm kind of depressed and have been sulking a bit...Here's my block...

dublb 09-10-2013 08:18 PM

Oh Anne it's gonna be a show stopper for sure.

frustratedquilter40 09-10-2013 08:34 PM

Honchey what a gorgeous block this will be. I hope your knee gives you a break and starts feeling better.

JuanitaBean 09-10-2013 08:46 PM

like your red block

mirabelle 09-10-2013 11:24 PM

What a beautiful block Anne, hope things get better for you quickly, hugs

QuiltingNinaSue 09-11-2013 04:54 AM

Hugs, Anne. I know how much my knee hurts and would never wish that on anyone. X-rays today will tell my story, and if it muscular then it will not show up in the x-ray; will have to bare up to the pain until the muscle heals...its been over 3 weeks of this "I hate to walk" "that looks a mile away" "No, I do not want to get in and out of the car one more time!" It no doubt been saving on the $$$ shopping...no desire to do so.

deranged_damsel 09-11-2013 09:45 AM

oooh Anne I LOVE the pink dots and strawberrys!!! great idea on the mirror... I had forgotten that trick since I made my latest OBO :D :D :D

moonwork42029 09-11-2013 09:49 AM

I have one of those mirrors...so much easier than making a whole block and deciding you don't like it.... gosh, now what "safe" place did I put it in???

janRN 09-11-2013 02:35 PM

Just got caught up on all the beautiful blocks. Each one I look at I think "hmm, why didn't I think of that color combo?" They're all stunning and so well done. Can't wait to see Block #2!

mirabelle 09-11-2013 04:48 PM

Have just chatted with Honchey and I am going to post a new thread every two week with the cutting instructions for everyone who wants them. Will post the last 3 for the newcomers. Hope this helps those that have had problems finding them. Block 4 will be posted as close to the 17th as I can.

Great job AKWeiland - great colors too!

mirabelle 09-11-2013 10:57 PM

Thank you mirabelle and everyone else. The colors are not coming over very true, the dark color is a purple batik and the redish looking color is really a hot pink batik. I will have to not use my blackberry camera next time or try better lighting. I appreciate your cutting directions, my practice blocks all turned out but more than once I has to go back and cut more material for them as I was short. So you made it much easier!!!

Anael 09-11-2013 11:33 PM

Anne, gorgeous block! I'm sorry you're having such a hard time with your health. (((Hugs))))

Akweiland, beautiful block! PP is great once you mastered it :)

gardnergal970 09-12-2013 04:43 AM

AKweiland....it looks like you're taking to pp like a duck to water. Beautiful block.
Honchey...hope you come to a good solution for your mobility and can keep leading this charge. Thanks for the mirror trick. I have one but forget to use it. It would save me some "practice" blocks!

So, let's see some of that Eye Candy we've all been waiting for!!!

These are so beautiful! This might just have to go into my "to do" basket!

marne 09-12-2013 06:45 AM

Good Morning Everyone!!

The blocks are beautiful-they make me want to do another one!!!! But I won't as I will get too behind.

Thank you for your kind comments on the red block. I love to sew, but picking colors and fabrics is really hard for me.

Finally, a HUGE shout out to Mirabelle-thank you SO much for the cutting instructions. I cut as I sewed and made fabric changes as I went along and that made life a lot easier!!

Have a lovely day everyone!

Marne

Honchey 09-12-2013 08:08 AM

Hi Everyone,
I contacted QOTS about the differences in the sizes of the blocks..They said that the "shrink to fit needs to be turned off and that the differences may be because of different printers print differently....Just wanted to let you know...H.

oksewglad 09-12-2013 08:11 AM

The appeal of this series is how different all the blocks are. Makes me want to keep up--but will enjoy the eye candy and appreciate all the work each one of you are making in these blocks.

roserips 09-12-2013 08:46 AM

Wow what beautiful blocks, I have downloaded the first and am inspired to join all of you.
So now I have a fun project to work on. I better get going since I am behind. Off to the stash to select fabrics.

carriem 09-12-2013 08:49 AM

I agree that all the blocks have been great. Things have been busy so I haven't been able to post regular comments like I like to, but know that I am looking at them and have really enjoyed the "show". Just 5 more days and we get to start seeing block #2! YAY!

This thread that we are on is the pict page for the first block. (There will be 2 o' these threads a month ta show off your blocks.) Arent they lovely? Mirabelle has some cuttin' directions somewhere. I think she is gittin' a page set up just for that, but I'm not sure where it it is. Go ahead & down load your the patterns for these blocks now, as they won't be available latter on. When ever ya make 'em we'll be ready ta see 'em. :)

klgreene 09-12-2013 04:00 PM

Just wanted to let everyone know.....I love everyone's blocks. So different, and so so pretty. Can't wait to see the next one. I'm hoping to get my second one done this weekend. Keep up the wonderful work everyone.

kwiltkrazy 09-12-2013 05:04 PM

MDD- absolutely gorgeous. black sure makes things pop.

frustratedquilter40 09-12-2013 05:58 PM

Mirab's_DD your block is great I love to use black makes all the colors pop. I used it once lets just say did not stay black as we have 2 long white haired Turkish Angora cats that reside in our home they are so cute but hairy. One has crystal blue eyes and his brother has one blue and one greenish-yellow eye like the cat in the photo below.
