    QB Block-of-the-Month, July 2013 - Blackford's Beauty - Photos

this is my example. i changed it slightly by adding corner setting triangles.
don't give me any credit for speed. i made this some time ago, so just needed to dig out the photo.

So, Patrice, by adding the setting triangles, how large did your square end up?

I like it with the corner triangles. I think it might fit my quilt better, I could leave them black, since my current blocks have so much black around the outside.

Love your colors Patrice, of course this week they remind me of fireworks!

    July BOM done

Yes, I'm done, so glad this was this months, I love this block. And I'm going with the same color scheme as the rest of my blocks. I needed one that sticks out, but not of different fabrics. This was perfect. Now to prepare it for QAYG.

adding the triangles in the corner did not change the size of the block.

I know, but in my other blocks I have more yellow in them. But very similar. Guess we both have good taste!

PatriceJ-Did you use a pink triangle & set it in on the center pieces? I can't see a seam. The block just sparkles, I really like it. Haven't started mine yet, soon.

I'm not dropping out, job out of town for 3-6 months. I'll drag my machine & tools to & from, ugh, but so worth it. Love doing the BOM with all of you! Hugs all around, DJ

Funny! But of course I don't have an actual yellow in mine .... I'm also doing the aurifil Designer of the Month in these colours so will end up with 24 blocks, if I can keep up with them all. This month the aurifil one is hand piecing...yikes...I've started....but it's another new technique for me!

Smile July Block of the Month 2013

A very interesting block this month. I appreciated the explanation given by Helen behind the name Blackford's Beauty. This is the reason I used Confederate Grey in my block. Great choice and fun block to make.

Judy, I love your block, it is really a stark contrast with the grey. I love the Story of Blackfords Beauty alos. I think there are some really cool stories in a lot of the quilt blocks.

Finally, here is my picture of this month's block! I am really loving the Black and white scrappy and amazed at how many of us are doing them.

I have an Album in my profile that has Block of Month and a few pictures I took on the construction of this block, but I see I have a problem with the size of my pictures being from the land of the Giants! Ugh... I need to figure out how to fit them!

It makes it very hard to view the enormous pictures!
