Your quilt is wonderful! Such great colors for a guy. It is so rewarding to have someone really like something you have created for him.

What is the pattern name or did you design it yourself? I have some batiks that would look good in that design and a bunch of jelly rolls that I have been trying to figure out what to do with. I do hope the color blocks start with 2 1/2". Oh well, if they don't, they will when I get through!

There is no greater reward to us quilters than a response to a gifted quilt like you describe. It is so nice when our labor of love is recognized and appreciated as such. I remember when you posted that quilt in photos and its so wonderful to read the follow up story. Thanks for sharing with us.

My M-I L was a quilter. We covered her coffin with one of her quilts. She would have liked that.

The pattern is called Granny's Insanity and is free on the Moda Bake Shop. It does, indeed, use 2 1/2 strips. I used jelly roll for colored and yardage for neutral.... It's a fun pattern...super easy...

It's a great quilt, and a lovely story.

What a treasure for your cousin. Congrats on sending him such a wonderful BD gift! Did you send his name in so they announce his special day on the morning news show?

I'm so glad he didn't, but think how happy he'd have been if he had died from receiving your quilt; certainly would make you happy not guilty for it, LOL! What a lovely gift, what a precious reaction. You both sound like pretty special people to me.

    UPDATE

He called me again today and I was right. He took it to church today. Lol!!! He had to share how everyone loved it. Apparently, my relatives are all requesting one of their own. My cousin told me he responded by saying that when they turned 100, I'd probably make them one, too. But he said itmprobably won't be as beautiful. Now you know why i love this man so much...
