It makes me so happy to see so many of you are married for so long and still consider your husband your best friend. I was married for 12 years and could never have called him my best friend...I assumed everyone eventually "settled" and that it was how life was.
But we ended up getting divorced, and I assumed I would be happier being alone than living with anyone else again. I didn't think the payoff was worth the work and frustration.
But then I met my sweetheart, and even though I swore I wouldn't do it again I did, and we have been together for 5 years. I love him more everyday and I'm pretty sure hes still crazy for me too, and I hope that 30 years from now we feel the same way. Every now and then I think of what my life would have been like had I stayed in my first marriage, and I can't believe how happy I am now.
Congrats to all of you!

congratulations. I was married for 33 years, 25 were good and the last 8 pretty bad. Divorced and met my DH 7 years ago last week. We have been married for just over 3 years. The last 7 years have been the best of my life.
I have worked out that if we are determined and live long enough we could make 25! 30 or 40 would be better but her's hoping....... mind you I always refer to him as my current husband, just to keep him on his toes!

I've been married 21. There is good times and not so good. Life has not always been easy for us. Unemployed, loss of a newborn, house fire, medical issues, etc.
The highlights are running through the house right now playing tag.
I just have to remember that to have roses you need to keep nurishing the roots of the rosebush. Marriage take time and effort to have the good times.
