I have joined & discontinued our membership twice. I see no benefit to it what so ever!! We will not renew our membership again. I checked out every one of their advertised insurance companies & did better on my own with aall rates.

I would let it go. We never joined DH says it's no benefit for us. Most places give Senior's a discount without it.

We belonged, and dropped it when we disagreed with their political agenda. Not once during that time period that I was paying membership fees was I surveyed for my opinion as to what they should lobby for or support. I've found that if you shop around, you can find cheaper insurance rates, and I've yet to benefit from one of their discounts.

this was good to know . I was debating joining but since I sure wouldn't get any benefits from it there is no point.

We didn't renew our membership. Didn't find it worth the money.

I dropped my membership. Not enough bang for the buck and sometimes I wondered how committed they were to us oldies but goodies!

We were members for a while. Didn't continue after the first year. All you get is the magazine every so oftern & lots of ads for insurance, I do mean a lot of ads. They still send us stuff even though we dropped the membership 3 years ago. Its not worth the money, IMO.

I keep getting the applications in the mail - they must have the wrong person cuz I didn't think I was old enough to join! DH just laughs when they come in the mail. His day is coming - though not for a while - he is ten years younger than me. Seriously though when I got the application the first time I called Mom and asked her opinion. They belong to it but honestly she wasn't sure if it was worth it for them or not.

They like to have their name on certain insurance type offers so the unassuming will think "if it's AARP it must be good". Ha ha ha. Nothing further from the truth. United Healthcare/Secure Horizons is not affiliated in any way with AARP, and ditto for others.

Several of my friends and relatives, including me, dumped them because of their political agenda.

I only use my AARP membership for use on my car insurance. My auto insurance company gives me a 10% discount if I have AARP, so for me it is worth the 16.00 per year.
