I so do not need this gadget but if I ever run acros one for free I might keep all its alternative uses in mind especially the one to measure spagheti and aid to ducks in need of artificial feet.

that is exactly what it is for. There were tons of them around at one time but some people found them akward to use.

Well, even if you don't find out what it is really for, now you have all these other ideas you can use. I like the duck foot suggestion-you could make a bear paw/duck foot/log cabin quilt!

You put your thumb through the bottom hole and your fingers over the top in the dips, and you use it to paint your fingernails. I use to have one, brought back memories.
