I just wanted to tell those of you who are interested in a Phillips Sonicare, Amazon has the Essence toothbrush for $34.95 and 6 replacement heads are $53.13. This is an older model. It is the one that I use and I love it. You should know that when you use it, you should unscrew the top and rinse it out. I had the opportunity to get the expensive new model when I bought this, but I didn't like some of the reviews on the newer one. Even though I have a small mouth, I prefer the larger brush because I feel it covers more area and is therfore more thorough. Also, the battery life of the Essence is very good in my experience. I bought mine and my husband's about 5 years ago and they both perform just like new. And like I stated in an earlier post, I've owned a Sonicare for 22 years now and I just cannot say enough positive things about them.

I used to say cleaning my teeth felt better than an orgasm......it really does make them shine......I use a Sonicare and have for 30 some years.....have also used the WaterPik for about five years in concert with the Sonicare. Love them both and what they do for my mouth. I use a bit of a Listermint or Scope or whatever is on sale in the WaterPik. Just tastes good!

Along with your electric toothbrush, get the little brush picks. Oral B and Den-Tec are 2 brands, but there are others. They come in different sizes depending in how far apart your teeth are spaced. I actually have several sizes.

Switched to Colgate brand, same variety and did not have issues with breakage again.
How would the toothpaste affect/afflict the electric part of the brush?

If the type of toothpaste was an issue it should be in the instructions. If not a caution about it then I wouldn't use that brand, why are they trying to hide that fact? My maxillofacial surgeon recommends anti bacterial toothpaste. Listerine toothpaste is the only one that is antibacterial.

Well I guess I am the only cheap one here, I use the battery operated SpinBrush. Got my first one free from a dental hygienist, just bought my replacement at Dollar General for less than $6. I like it because it has the round rotating part, great for getting around the back of your back teeth.

Pre-bedtime regime is getting quite extensive -
    Brush with electric toothbrush
    Floss
    Water pik
    Mouthwash
    Night cream under eyes.

Sigh....life was easier when I was 40 years younger!!
