LOL! Car decision solved. I mentioned to my niece that maybe she'd like my car and I'd buy another one. She said Wow really? I'd love it! She learned to drive using my car and she feels comfortable driving it. Thanks great aunt jacqui! for the idea. DH said my car would of course, cost much more then any she would have wanted. Of course.
;) ;) ;)

A WIN-WIN situation!! You get a NEW car - she gets a "new" car that she likes!!

Personnally and from experience , I wouldn't buy a car for some
one elses teenager. Unless there was a real need for that
person to have a car. Like drive to college , or work.

It is a big responciblity to drive a car and be on the road today.
Make them take driver education first. Then have a car.
One they buy themselves.

Sound tough huh??? Been there and done that.

I agree a Volvo or a Jeep, both are strong and solid.

I gAVE my granddaughter our older chrysler Grand Marquis. We had a a warranty that was purchased for it separately so that anything major that was going to happen would be covered. It was a giant tank and you still see many seniors driving them now particularly in Florida. THEY seat six and the inside feels like your living room. It is a big big car that seats 6 comfortabley. Uses tons of gas but that will keep your teen2ger off the road if he(she )has to pay for the gas,
carol in Charleston. (Ceegee) SC

It sounds like this young lady is already responsible. While an older car is cheaper for insurance purposes, you don't want something that you worry about breaking down along the highway, too dangerous any more for a young lady by herself. I think you're on the right track in what you're looking for

If you can afford it, I vote for a Toyota Prius or other hybrid.

Your niece is very lucky to have you. She sounds like a great girl. Each kid is different, so you can't judge one against the other. We just bought my granddaughter a used car, and it gave her the little boost she needed to get a job, and get on with her life. Kudos to you for raising such a great girl!
