My DS took me and my DGD's and DGS to Merritt Island to see the launch.

Impressive pics. Watched it on tv. Almost had a panic moment when they stopped the countdown at 31 seconds. Then after about a 3 minute delay, resumed the countdown. It is a marvelous site to behold. I have no desire to go into space but love watching the pics. I remember when the schools brought tv(black and white)into the class so that we could watch Alan Shepard go into space, then later on John Glenn orbit the earth. I am dating myself but nothing like being a witness to history.

I know. When they lost the one with the schoolteacher on board I can remember every little detail of where I was and what I was doing at the time. Funny how the mind works sometime.

Yes, and DH and I caught that on video, and I watch it with the GKs when they visit. I want them to see history in the making. We saw the teacher's parents in the stands, watching the ship rise and rise, and then suddenly that huge, smoky Y in the sky, and you could see doubt beginning to be on their faces and then horror as reality set in, then 2 men in suits came and took them away. This was never repeated in later broadcasts, just too much of a breach of personal feelings.
