Australian Rescue Needs?
I did a search, and didn't find anything (not the most computer savvy, so it could be operator error),
But does anyone know of any sewing projects being collected for Australian Fire rescues?
I'd like to do "something" but would rather not spear-head it.
Thanks quilty friends!
Chris

The priority now is putting out the fires and providing necessities for those who have been displaced. We quilters always want to provide hand made items, but really money is the best gift. It doesn't cost anything to ship it, it doesn't have to be warehoused once it arrives, and it can be spent on what is truly needed.

I’m making pouches. Not as many people are making the XX large pouches and liners because of the amount of fabric it takes. I have a feeling they go through them more quickly too as the bigger babies are stronger and more able to rip them. One xxlsrge liner takes 1 2/3 yards. Flannel. I’m making the outer pouches out of denim.

I saw a list a day or so ago, I think on my facebook thread, where one of the Australian Rescue organizations indicated which items they still needed and which items they have an abundance of - most of the smaller items were plentiful and they wanted larger items only. Not sure if that was local to a region of Australia or not but I quickly decided money was the best resource for them right now. Quick, easy, and immediately available for them to put to use.

I am going to butt in here not out of meanness but I live in Australia and I would like to point out that we have very strict quarantine restrictions due to our isolation and uniqueness of some of our wildlife and would hate to think that others have spent time and money making pouches etc that cannot be used. I have attached some requirements below which hopefully will help you decide if this is the right way to go.
Perhaps you may consider a cash donation due to the above, the timeframe involved in transporting the items as well as the cost to the sender.
I hope that I have not offended anyone but it is written with the utmost sincerity and concern for those who are wanting to generously donate. I know that we all feel helpless and want to donate in someway to help. I have been doing my bit in sewing pouches and liners and they were delivered to the drop off centre during the week.
Thank you all once again for your thoughts that are with us Aussies during this devasting time.

This is great information. I need a bit more information however. Where do we send out items to if we are working independently ? Thank you for sharing this valuable information.

Thank you, busy fingers. I thought I saw something on one of the news programs this morning about sewing pouches, here in Denver, which I couldn't find. I did happen across a different news item https://ktvz.com/news/national-world...hfire-victims/ that has some links.
A couple of other links - may or may not come from the above.

Thank you to everyone who answered my questions.
I can see where the strict guidelines come in. One would hate to add to the distress and misery going on there.
At this time I will donate money, and perhaps as things progress, there will be a clearer guideline as to what is truly needed at a future point in time.
Thank you to everyone.....As we are all neighbors on this planet, and I am thankful we can pull together when one of us are in need
