I have a new baby kitty. Her name is Lily. I got her at only 6 weeks. That's a little young, but the people had 13 babies from 2 moms and just wanted them gone. She was the runt, much smaller than the others. She's alert, eats well, plays, affectionate, and just a sweetheart. I got her baby kitten milk to supplement her for growth. She totally trusts and loves me, follows me around. I think she thinks I"m literally her mom. She suckles on my neck. Sometimes she even makes little hickies! I have no question that she's healthy, growing and happy. But I've never seen the sucking like that before, and I'm a cat person!

Once my daughter got a brother and sister kitties at 8 weeks, and the boy sucked on their earlobes for a few months, then grew out of it. People on catster.com say it's fairly common.

What do you other cat people say? Weird?

    Fits in a hand!

She's adorable! I don't know enough about cats but hopefully she'll outgrow the sucking problem.

Normal for one so young. She has bonded with you and that is just awesome for her physical and mental well being. Kudos to you for developing such a warm, loving relationship with one so young. She will definitely flourish with your care. Thank you for sharing.

She was just weaned too early - kudos to you for being her mom! :) She's adorable. My guess is that she'll outgrow it.

It's perfectly normal. I used to be a veterinary assistant at a cat clinic. Happens all the time. Some cats never do it, some out grow it and some do it forever. I had a cat that was part florida bob cat and extremely aggressive but when no one else was around he'd lay with me and suckle clothes, skin, whatever he could suckle on. Got him when he was 3 days ond and he did it until he died at 9 years old. As long as she's not biting and it doesn't bother you let her. Once those kitten nails get sharp you'll probably want to stop her.
