Back in the Day! Slides!
I have been turfing...and selecting and turfing slides... I donated my slide projector. a few years ago....but oh my.... I had no idea it would cost me $2.99/cdn to have one slide made into a photo....hmmm.... so... going back into my files.... to really select those that I need!
Have you made the decision to not rid yourself of photos....but to be more selective?

Scan the slides you want into digital form then have them printed. Much cheaper!
Before our 40th anniversary (and while recuperating from one of many surgeries) I spent about 10 days sorting and scanning slides to a hard drive. Kids shared all that between them and selected the pictures for a slide show of our life together for our anniversary open house. I now have to select what I want printed for some scrapbooks for the kids. I'll wait till there's a good sale to have those printed. And then spend the winter creating the books. Each of the kids will then have their own book and a record of family history. Hoping at least one of the four takes on the mantle of "Keeper of stories" - I'm not into genealogy but collect stories about the people in my family.

Hi SuzzyQ..... I do have a Scanner/printer ... hmmm.... I stuck a slide onto the scanner but when it scanned it, it just looks like a fuzzy picture. I wonder what I would need to do, to get it to scan to digital. I better see if Mr. Google has any details for me. Thanks for the suggestion.

How do you scan slides into your computer? I have hundreds, if not thousands, that need to be sorted through.

There is a company in the U.S. called LegacyBox. You can send them your old photos, slides, VHS tapes, reel to reel tapes, or any others from outdated technology, and they will put them onto discs or thumb drives (your choice) for you.

I found this site. It offers a free ebook on how to scan slides into your computer. http://howtoscan.ca/scanning-ebook/h...scan-ebook.php
I haven't tried it yet but it looks easy enough.

My sister took a bunch we had from our grandparents and had the Costco photo center make a CD for her. She sent me a copy of the CD. They did a great job even though they had no idea what order to put them in.
