Last summer due to the high humidity (and dripping grandchildren getting out of the tub) we had a rubber backed bath mat that adhered to vinyl flooring...I could not get it loose without ripping the mat to shreds. After googling for a solution, I made a paste of baking soda and water and smeared it on the remaining areas of rubber backing...voila, the next morning I took a plastic scraper and it all came up. No more rubber backing mats for this house.
