We made my daughter's wedding gown. About 20 years later I used the scraps to sew a small version of her gown including veil & put it a shadow box along with a wedding picture.

Last year we attended a 50th wedding anniversary reception and the bride's gown was on display along with the wedding pictures. Very impressive! If I had one, I'd keep it until I died. I feel sure the children and grandchildren would cherish it.

I was going to use my wedding dress for christening gowns for my DD's. My mother had a FIT!!! Now, 45 years later, it's still in the box.

I might note--no grandchildren. If I every have any, it's gone.

I got married in 1970 - midst of the "hippie days", so my dress is a mini - barely longer than my fingertips with my arms down at my sides! Not enough fabric for much of anything. However, it is 100% cotton, so I must find a quilting use for it!

I made a bassinet skirt and hood cover out of mine for my sister's first baby. It was beautiful and she loved it!

So many wonderful ideas shared on this topic. Since I have two sons(no daughters to pass it on to)and DIL's wanted their own new dresses. Probably sounds crazy but until I saw these ideas I didn't know what else to do with it besides give away or sell it. It represents one of the most joyous days of my life and I just didn't want to get rid of it haphazardly.
Thanks for the ideas.

You brought tears to my eyes. Please give him a hug and a big Kiss for me. I hope you all have a Merry Christmas.

I love these ideas...I have 2 wedding gowns (backed out the first time, LOL!) I am 4' 11" tall and I was VERY TINY, my 9 year old GD had a hard time getting the zipper up on both of them when she tried them on, so chances of any woman in our family fitting them is real slim!
