Here is a pic of a latch hook - so that is not it

not like any punch tools I have ever seen before either

Can't wait to see what it really is :lol:

I think It is a needle punch for making rugs with rug yarn and when I did them I used burlap for the backing here is a pic of some but a little different in looks

looks like a shuttle for jaquard weaving, but don't quote me
saw similar one in Italy many years ago at a bedspread factory

I don't know what it is, but it looks as if it might be used to draw yarn ends through knitting or crochet to hide them.

At least it looks like a tool I'd like for that purpose!!

Wasn't in Italy....but I am sure this is what the hook was used for. The band moves for different depth
